It’s so difficult isn’t it!! I’m a single mam and pay £560 a month, only working 3 days a week but increasing to 5 in September so looking at £1400 a month 😭
We didn’t even know about tax free childcare, but when applying for the 15h, it automatically gave that to us as well, which took our monthly bill from 1770 to 1600 🤯 and then with the 15h it will come down even more, can’t wait! 😅
@Aiga I got my tax free child care too but I have no clue what it’s for 🫣
@Shauna it gives up to 20% off the cost of the childcare hours you have to pay for over and above the free hours
I work the same as you and our nursery bill came this everning for September (not due until sept…) and it was literally half🎉🎉🎉
Should probably note he goes 2 days a week
I think you need to clarify that with the nursery
Because they’ve stretched the hours over the whole year! It’s 15hours a week term time. 10.96 covers the holidays if they still attend there x
I also only get 10 hours as the 15 hours is for term time only but my boys go all year round! I work full time/5 days a week and childcare costs are absolutely crazy (£83 per day for us)! The funding and tax free does really help!
@Meg you should be entitled to uc and get 15 hours free and the extra hours you have childcare for you’ll get 85% back
I've just started an evening job a couple days a week. My partner works days so we have a quick passover then I go to work. I've been there once with my eldest lost most my money on nursery so I've changed job cut my hours right down and I'm now bringing home more money then what I did when I worked full time!
Wow, I pay 1059 for my child to attend 3 days a week currently 🤮🫠
But I’m thankful that I will at least get 85% of it back through UC but definitely makes it hard as parents x
You may be eligible for 15 free hours which will help a little but it will depend on how high your salaries are. I dream of £70 a day, by the way - our nursery is £93!
