No my uni won’t let me :/ they want me to take a year off
They are not flexible at all
Really?! That's such a shame that they won't be more accommodating. I'm so sorry ti hear this, it must be very disheartening x
Could you consider the open university?
I have an 8 week old and going into my second year at university, I am doing uni from home and will attend any lectures that I can, as they say the course isn’t on attendance, as long as I am doing the work, it can be from home. Would your uni consider the same ?
No unfortunately they want me to attend to all lectures :/
What course are you doing?
Have you thought about getting a nanny in to look after baby in your own home?
I’m doing forensics science I can’t afford it unfortunately :/
Yea for that sort of course it’s likely all universities will ask you to attend all the time. When you have a baby and your in full time education there is something called the childcare grant payment system- as long as you tell student finance England that your now a parent they’ll open an account for you to use to help with childcare costs- they give around £10000 per year which in my opinion is more than enough to cover the costs of these things. Have a look into it and do some calculations it doesn’t have to be the end of things just because your a new mum you have options hun x
Also how many days per week are you expected at uni for this coming academic year?
As I’m only in two days which is down from the three days I was doing last year which means I could send my little one to the childminders three/ four days a week which cuts costs but still gives me the time I need to actually get my work done. X
I would be only 2 days as well but I am a bit scared to leave her somewhere as she is only 5 months old
I completely get that I was the same with my little one, it’s the scariest thing but when you find the right childminder it feels right! And that’s why I suggested a nanny as they’ll come to your home and look after baby there. I used to be a nanny and honestly you can find one that will take payments from the CCGPS that I explained earlier to you. It’s only two days a week and baby will be with you the rest of the days. It will be hard to begin with but once you get into the routine of it all you’ll be absolutely fine. X

I absolutely get that you don't want to put your little when they're so little. I thought I was gonna have to put my little one in at 4month and I was so upset about it. I managed to find one nursery out of LOADS that I didn't feel guilty about putting her in. See if you can find that one place and it might make everything that little bit easier xx
I’m doing open university and it’s all online when you want to do it - we have tutorials but most are recorded xx
I'm finishing up my masters just now. Brookes let me take my daughter in with me to lecturers and tutorials. Speak to the uni and see if they would be flexible with you taking your little one in with you. They may be more accommodating for that x
