Working mamas?

Anyone working? I just got a dream job offer. My son is going to be 3 months on the 17th of Sept. would it be awful of me to forego being a sahm and go back to work part time? It would mean pumping and/or formula — which I’ve only done a couple of times so I have no clue — and trusting him to be cared for by others, but I kind of really want to do it. My fiance wants me to be home 2 years like with our first but I’m not as scared this round — is that terrible? The job is even saying I can schedule my own hours from 8-4pm! But my fiance works until 3pm so I’d for sure have to find someone super reliable to care for 2 kids. How do you do it or plan to do it if you’re working?

I am taking 4 months then going back to my full-time corporate job. My husband and I both work from home. We have daycare lined up with a place we feel good about.

@Sarah he would be home with someone — my mother in law comes from Mexico in 5 weeks, my sister in law lives here but hasn’t found a job yet, and my mother and sister get off work at 1:30pm so I think I might be able to pull off 2-5pm for a bit until my mother in law arrived. My daughter is super easy but once I had a schedule I’ve had my eye on a good preschool nearby!

I'm went back to work this week. 😭😭😭 I've been researching EVERYTHING to find a way to afford to stay at home. But if it's your dream job, I wouldn't pass it up! 😊

@Katie I was a sahm for 2.5 years with my first and it’s great but I went a little crazy and my mental health declined so I personally wanted to go back to work earlier. I didn’t count on this early, more like 4-6 months but the opportunity literally just came out of nowhere

I’m thinking on going back to work, my baby is going to be 3 months as well sept 17 😳 is my first baby and gives me so much anxiety living her :(

I'm thinking about quitting and taking in 2 infants to my home. (Lots of daycare teaching experience) I'd charge about $15-$17/HD. I'm located in Glendale on Colorado blvd, off of i25. Lmk if you need help!!!

I stayed home with my first during COVID, now with my second I will be going back to work. She will be about 4 months old when I go back and I feel bittersweet about it. On one hand I love my job and know long term it provides stability for my family and on the other I don’t like the thought of her being away from me. Thankfully, I work remote two days a week so she will be home with me those days and in daycare the other days. I also breastfeed so the pumping life will be a thing. Start storing up breastmilk in the freezer. I pump a couple extra sessions after feeds and store and it adds up quickly. Once at work, pump roughly every 3-4 hours depending how often your little one eats. Our bodies will adjust. Also introduce a bottle early and make sure baby can take a bottle when you’re away. Mine is still being stubborn about that lol

@Angelique thankfully mine loves anything!! We did bottled pumped and formula and he took it all thank goodness!

No it’s not terrible! I use daycare. However I didn’t start daycare til closer to 8 months with my baby and worked mostly from home so it was less work to pump so I could just nurse him between meetings. We love our daycare and plan to start earlier with our June baby but my husband wants him to have 2 rounds of vaccines before we start so likely not til 4-5 months. We both work full time but both took off 3 months parental leave then will be working from home and switching off during the day until he starts daycare full time.

If I could afford to stay with my babies, a very short phase in the grand scheme of life, I wouldn't trade it even for my dream job. But if you really want to and can find reliable care that doesn't make you want to cry when you're away, then do it!

I’d go for it if you can figure childcare out

I also start my dream job in mid September, baby will be almost 3 months old. I feel very anxious about it but will be leaving her at home with her father until we find a daycare option. Very nervous about standing up for the work hours and work/life balance I’ll need in a way that still conveys that I’m committed to the job. And honestly wish I could push it back at least another month but I don’t want to send the wrong message to my employers and it’s going to be our only source of income…

My maternity leave is up October 1st and I will have had 16 weeks home with my first. I have suchhhhhh bad anxiety thinking of leaving him to go back to my full time corporate job but also don’t want to be a full time SAHM. If I wasn’t the bread maker, I’d only work part time. Only you can tell what you think is right! It sounds like you want to take it, so I would!
