Anyone not ovulate after a chemical?

I’m cycle day 16 now with OPKs not getting dark and BBT is very erratic. I usually have textbook 28-30 day cycles and confirm ovulation day 14-15 with BBT and OPKs. Concerned everything is messed up and really wanted to start trying again!

It will likely take your body a little time to get back to normal. I think I had a longer cycle after my chemical but I’m pregnant again (it happened 3 months after my chemical) so try not to worry

Thank you for the quick reply! I had an early miscarriage at 6w3d in March and my cycles came back to normal pretty much straight away (ovulated as usual on day 15) so I’m just shocked that a loss at 5w has messed up my cycle this time. I guess every pregnancy is different. Been TTC for 7 months now and had x2 miscarriages in that time so I’m just eager to try again as my GP refuses to refer me for further testing until I’ve had 3 miscarriages (which is crazy to me) - hoping we’re 3rd time lucky 🤞🏽 congratulations on your pregnancy ♥️

Well I had a loss around the same time as you first time round?I was about 7+2, I can’t remember what happened with my current Le’s but it took 18 months for me to fall that time, then only 7 months until I fell again and had a chemical, and only 3 months after that for this pregnancy. I’m 30 weeks this week with my double rainbow and this is definitely third time lucky so hopefully same for you too. Good luck!

Oh that gives me so much hope! Did you have any testing in between your losses if you don’t mind me asking? So happy you finally have your double rainbow 🌈 xx

I had testing before the first loss because we were trying so long. Turns out my bf had sperm issues so we went on diets and took loads of different vitamins. We had more testing done after the second loss because we paid for a private consultation (about £100) and it was the best thing we did because as soon as I fell pregnant he put me on progesterone (and I also needed blood thinners) which we wouldn’t have known about otherwise. Doctors or EPU’s won’t prescribe progesterone until you get past 6 weeks viability and my consultant had me on it from day dot which I feel made all the difference

That’s amazing! I wouldn’t even know where to begin searching for someone privately, how did you find someone? I think that 1:1 support is crucial and must help put your mind at ease x

I went through my GP, they referred me to a private specialist. It was a bit of cock-up tbh. I wanted referring for further testing (I was nearly 39 hence why I was pushing) I had a meltdown to my doc who told me “just relax?it only takes one sperm!” 🙄🙄🙄 and eventually he gave in and referred me. The testing should be done on the nhs but it was declined because they either misread the referral or it wasn’t clear, and they thought we were asking for IVF treatment rather than just testing.so this was declined. (Bf has 2 kids) We were then re-referred as we said we were willing to pay. When we actually got there he was confused why we had paid and said from now on he would see us on an nhs basis (free) but basically that ended up jumping us up the queue because we’d already had an initial appointment then.they got started on more testing and gave advice, and luckily I was pregnant 3 months later! Straight on progesterone (rather than waiting til 6 weeks as per nhs guidelines) and…

Blood thinners which were flagged up as needed as some of the tests they did showed I had a blood clotting issue. This was never picked up in previous testing. I found out I was pregnant at 3 weeks 4 days since the first day of my last period (6 days before due period.) that was a Sunday,so I rang the clinic the following day when it opened and collected my meds the same day. They gave me an early scan at 6+6 I think, and even an extra at 9+6 for my own peace of mind. I then had the usual 12 week appointment and was discharged from assisted reproduction at 14 weeks and have followed the nhs pathway since. I do have extra scans towards the end because of the blood thinners and my age, and I now have gestational diabetes so had a 28 week scan too. I have a consultant and a diabetes nurse and the care has been brilliant. I’m 30 weeks on Thursday. I don’t know how old you are but if you’re less than 35 and only been trying 7 months I honestly wouldn’t worry about anything at this point.

I think you’ve just been unlucky. By the time I saw a private specialist I was 39, been trying over 2 years and had 2 losses. You have a long way to go before you’re at that point.but honestly I wish you lots of baby dust!x

Thank you so much for sharing your story! I’ll keep pushing with my GP if it sadly happens again, I really hope it’s just bad luck. Had so many tests and nothing shows anything is wrong, next step would be my husband! I don’t seem to have a problem getting pregnant, it’s staying pregnant 😔 x

They love to focus on the woman! My tests were always fine. And because my bf has 2 kids (13 and 11) they pretty much dismissed him being the issue as even an option. Turns out it was him! The only thing that ever came back for me was the blood clotting thing wayyyyyyy down the line (and possibly a one off result) but they doubted that would be a reason for my losses and certainly not with struggling to conceive. I think they always just assumed it was my age. In actual fact I fell pregnant 3 times in one year so for a 38/39 year old that’s pretty damn good fertility!

@Sarah it’s crazy isn’t it! Did they provide your bf with any supplements/meds before you fell pregnant again if he was the issue? It’s absolutely mental that we live in this day and age and we’re still so much in the dark about fertility!

No it was just down to us to look into different supplements tbh. We’d been taking them from about 9 months in so it did improve things and I obviously fell pregnant again so it definitely helped x

@Sarah Sorry to ask, but what did you and your husband take? I feel like I’ve fallen down a rabbit hole with supplements!

He took ashwagandha, vitamin c (both of us) and co-enzyme q10 (both of us but he had a higher dose.) can’t hurt to give it a go!x
