I work in a niche counselling type role at a university and have a lot of flexibility in the sense I can work around appointments and manage my own diary. If one of the kids is sick I rearrange anything essential, and pick up the hours around the kids napping/after bedtime. I’d say a lot of people I come across at the university I work at have a lot of flexibility, seem very happy, and it just has the kind of culture where they really do believe family and your personal well-being come above all else. I worked for the probation service before this, the flexibility was very line manager specific. I do really enjoy my job overall. More than happy to chat about it if you wanted to message me 😊
@Katie yes!!! This feels wholesome yes please I'll DM
@Katie just quickly tho how is it niche because I thot counselling is with all types of walks of life lol
It really is very wholesome! I have to say, being valued by your employer is a real shock to the system. I’m not comfortable going into specifics in such a public space if that’s okay. I work with a very specific group of people, and often attract the same kind of dislike traffic wardens get when people find out what I do 😂
@Katie 💯 understandable. Dming you
Technical writing and project management. It’s great and the work can accommodate working remote and hybrid for flexibility (depending on employment arrangement).
Look at becoming a driving instructor, that's what I am doing. If you're in Cheshire / Merseyside area look up Elephant Driving Academy. They're not a huge company like others and their fees are much more manageable. Flexibility is brilliant as you set your own hours and what not. Or see if someone closer to you will train you other than the big companies xx
@Claire I literally thought of this the other day because I know how much I hate being tied to a desk and that I actually love being on the go so oh my God you just totally validated something that I wasn't totally confident about but thank you so much I'm going to totally look into this
Following this, I want to know myself.
