Birth plan

Hello ladies! Do you usually write your birth plan or just have things on your mind and share them during the appointment? How does it work actually?

I've wrote mine all in Badger notes, hopefully the midwifes will read it and have some knowledge of it when I'm in.. Just in case for any reason I wouldnt be able to tell them.. X

37 weeks and no ones spoke to me about a birth plan, don't even know what my options are. I have written in my notes on my phone things which are important to me. Planning on making a print out to bring with me when it's time. I have no plan as such but just small things which I want or not want to happen

@Kaylee my midwife hasn't hardly spoke to me about it either and I'm 37 too, luckily my best friend gave birth 6 weeks ago so I've had loads of info from her! Things to think about are - the room, how you want it to be, light, dim, music, fairy lights, whatever you want the atmosphere to be like - what position you wanna be in, or do you want to be free to move, do you want a ball available, do you wanna be able to get in a pool even if its just for pain relief - what monitoring do you want baby to have - what pain relief you want (I just read all options on NHS website) - what interventions you do or don't want ie forceps etc - what you want when the baby's born, ie, immediate skin to skin, do you want baby to be cleaned before they're given to you or not, delayed cord clamping, who's cutting the cord, vitamin k for baby (read about that it's injection or oral drops) - what your feeding options are for first feed Hope that helps xxx

My midwife said to have my birth plan started/ready for 36week appointment. I found this one and printed it out (not sure if the link will work but it’s from baby academy) https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Rdi2wUh5xiIYKtyamXwuYtYSvmWacWqu/view?pli=1

@Terri mine has been absolutely useless. My best friend gave birth 8 weeks ago so I've got all my information from her too!! Apparently some hospitals don't offer much pain relief, for example mine offers morphine but not much else.

Mine aswell they didn’t say anything, when I asked once midwife mentioned you can start planning yours. I have 36 week appointment soon and that’s why was wondering how does it really work? Thank you ladies for ideas.

Just had my 34 week appointment and my midwife told me to fill out my plan on the badger notes app. She said the 36 week appointment will be twice as long so we can go through it together. So if you have any ideas about how you’d like your birth to go, maybe start filling it out on badger notes x

My midwife told me to google the nhs birth plan, print it out and put it into your folder so you can give it to the delivery team ☺️ https://www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/labour-and-birth/preparing-for-the-birth/how-to-make-a-birth-plan/
