@Artemisa great question! FMLA is a job protection so you are protected for the 12 weeks. If you go beyond the 12 weeks you do not have that protection, however I would check with your employer sometimes there’s employment contracts that have additional time off approval, ask HR, are you part of a union? It has been my experience that it just depends where you work. Please feel free to schedule a call with me. Wish you the best of luck.
I’ve been thinking about going on disability as I have been unwell since pregnancy. I wasn’t able to work and haven’t been able to seek work because I am not well. But at this point I don’t know how to get approval because it’s not been two tax seasons without work. How would they determine what I would receive in disability payments?
@Meghan I get it. Circumstances can make the brain 🧠 feel out of sync. Are you being treated by a licensed professional? That would be your first step. You can call and ask the state disability department to see if you have funds
Does anything like this exist in NY?
@Zara Hi Zara, I did quick search and it NY is one of the states that offers it. If you have a Mental Health provider you are working with I would ask them.
Omg! I wish this was the case in Atlanta!! I’m currently going through PPD and possibly a bipolar disorder since having my LO in January. My job wants me to come back next week and I’m not ready but they said that disciplinary action will be taken if I don’t come back.
Will I still have my job or can they fire me? I currently in therapy but I have stress over my return date and I’m afraid to get fired if I don’t get better soon
