SMP - how to apply?
I qualify for SMP but what do you have to do to apply for it?
Is it the same as maternity allowance? Because I had to fill out a form for that.

Oh ok, I’ve done all of that and they have the Matb1 form. I’ve also confirmed my last working day. I wasn’t sure if I needed to apply to the government too, like maternity allowance. Sounds like you don’t so that’s one thing off my list. Thank you so much xx
I may be wrong but I don’t think you get both. You either get statutory maternity pay or maternity allowance.
Oh yes I mean I had maternity allowance for my first! And I qualify for SMP for my second!

Your work should pay you SMP in your payslip, to qualify I think you need to tell your HR about the pregnancy and due date by 15 weeks before your due date. Usually they ask for the matb1 form
