Depending on circumstances yes you can! They don't expect you to return to work until baby is 1 year old

Yes you can!!

Yes you can

Unless your household meets s certain threshold, you can apply for uc at any time.

If you live with a partner it'll be their salary that determines if you're eligible for UC as it looks at household income rather than individual

@Chiara do you know what the annually pay is for your partner to be entitled to uc

Not entitled as my partner earns too much apparently 🫠

I'm not entirely sure tbh its based on a few different things, including if you rent or have a mortgage, where you live etc. I found https://www.entitledto.co.uk/ A really useful website. Enter in all your info and it will give you an estimation of the help you could receive x

Yes I think household income needs is like 2200/2300 (ish). So yes even if you aren't getting any money it has to be a joint claim so goes off partner. Looks at dependants, mortgage, savings etc.

@Chiara thank you when would I apply for it. If I go on maternity leave in February

So i personally did a load of calculations using that website based on when my pay changed to see when I'd likely be eligible. In my case, my pay dropped to 50% after 13 weeks of mat leave and I was eligible then. I'm a single parent though so it may be different for you. You can open a claim and not receive anything for up to 6months before they'll close it. I would definitely put different scenarios in to that calculator to give you a better idea of when/what you can claim and if for example you think you can claim something, apply a month or 2 before hand. Hope this helps x

@Chiara thank you x
