I’ve been awarded pip, need help

Anyone know how it works in terms of payment? I’ve not got my letter yet, only text but I heard people get backpay before their actual first payment. I called the automated line and it said I’m due money at the end of November but this just seems like the normal monthly amount I’d be expecting. Does that include backpay or is it separate (as in do they include the backpay sum in that first payment)? Because if they have, then it probably means I didn’t get backpay as it’s the total amount quite low and I was expecting back pay for at least 2/3 months which would be more than that quoted first payment. Please help! I’m looking to spend the backpay on some features to make my life more accessible. Also to add really happy I’ve been awarded no matter the amount as I’ve been chronically unwell for a long time especially after having a child. It’s just nice being listened to. Thanks !

Hiya! I applied in April 2022 and got my award at the end of July 2022 and I got back paid from the date I applied in April! It went into my bank account day after I received my reward letter! X

Normally backpay is a one off lump sum and then regular payments are on the dates advised. Hope this helps

@Olivia amazing! How long did it take for your letter after you recover your text (if you got one?) x

@Kelly-Lou thank you! I’m assuming the number they told me on the automated line due at the end of November is my usual amount and the backpay I believe I’m owed was not included in that amount right? Haven’t received the letter yet but I’m riddled with anxiety 😂

Bless you, they sometimes reach out to confirm payment account as well. I hope you get clarity soon and it's so understandable to feel uncertain. Well done on getting the award and advocating for yourself - it's so tough :)

I think it was about a week? It wasn’t long at all x
