Parenting vs. Work

Hey Moms! I could really use some advice and support from those of you juggling work and parenting right now. Are any of you working or working from home? What do you do, and how do you manage it with little ones? I’ve been on the hunt for a part-time job for the last couple of months but haven’t had much luck. Nursery costs are sky-high, so I’ve decided to keep my little one at home with me for now. But my original plan to start working again just hasn’t come together. My background is in graphic design, and I also have seven years of experience as a brow/lash expert, plus over a year as a PMU artist (which was my dream plan, but I haven’t been able to find enough clients to justify renting a space). If you’re in a similar situation, please tell me your story! I’d love to hear how you make it work, what kinds of jobs have been doable with kids at home, and any ideas or recommendations for legit remote jobs. It’s overwhelming trying to sift through all the scams out there.

I work remotely, and it's perfect for me as I never work while the kids are awake. I still very much consider myself a SAHM. I do have to do a quarterly Zoom meeting, but I make sure hubby is available. I copy/edit and translate for an international publishing company. I'm not sure with your background what remote positions would work. Have you tried graphic design firms? Maybe try virtual assistant or scribe/data entry positions. Best wishes

@Shanee I can work in many areas, but anything that is not related to graphic design requires experience)) thanks for the ideas, I will definitely check these positions. The only thing that worries me is the scammers, there are so many of them lately

Apply directly to a company. You can also reach out to an agency they will always have legit leads. I didn't have any experience when I started. I edited a sample piece and was contacted by multiple headhunters and chose the best option for my family. I suggest sprucing up you CV and posting it on LinkedIn.

@Shanee Thanks for the advice! Much appreciated🙏
