Advice please 🙏

Myself and my partner are really struggling to understand the UK government child hours help, we have both realised that I need to go back to work earlier than planned, however, we're not entitled to the childcare hours until September 2025 💀 is anyone in a similar situation? How have you overcome this? I don't have any family members that can take my little one on a regular basis 🙃

It’s been updated to start at 9 months so in May you’ll be entitled to 15 free hours (as long as you both are working and each of you makes less than 6 figures). If you do make too much you can transfer more into your pension which will decrease the ‘take home’ and make you eligible, this is what we had to do. At the end of the day childcare costs are simply outrageous and I’ve had quite a few friends basically be forced to become SAHM because nursery would be more than their paycheck 😫 On top of the 15 hours I think you should get this as well so hopefully it works out for you guys - https://www.gov.uk/tax-free-childcare

@Allie are you entitled to it from May or is it only from the term after they are 9 months old, which will then only be from September?

@Allie as I’m aware they will entitled start September because they count per term.

I didn't realise this either so we are debating whether I go part time for a couple of months or husband starts work when I finish work for a couple of months x
