Kicking

Do I panic if I’m 24 weeks tomorrow and still no kicks, when going for our scan the hospital said my placenta was in the correct place for me to feel the kicks. Just wondering if I should get in touch with the midwife or leave it another week and then seek help x

Midwife said to contact her if by 24 weeks you've not felt anything x

I would ring the midwife line, no harm in it and they will advise what to do. I would rather ring them and get professional advice then guess myself- i have been checked by widwife twice and i am only 25+4 - even though there is no supposed pattern in babies movements yet they still would rather you trust your gut and get checked than not and god forbid anything be wrong with baby. They are more than happy to help and it only takes 5 mins for them to check baby is okay xx

This happened to me, I phoned the community midwife and they saw me that day to listen to baby’s heart rate and the next day I was sent for a scan, luckily everything is fine! Did they say anything about ur placenta? Because if it’s in front that can have an impact on you feeling baby move x

Thank you guys, I’ll call tomorrow appreciate it x

@Samantha they were happy with the placement of my placenta on my 20 week scan so I presume still all good x

Theres nothing wrong with having an anterior placenta (at the front) so they wouldn't necessarily have highlighted this to you during the scan but it'd be noted on your hospital notes for you to check if you're unsure, I didn't realise with my 1st I had an anterior placenta until I was having a nosey through my book one evening and it was about 22/23 weeks when I was sure I was feeling kicks but before then it was difficult to identify them! Id definitely give them a ring though, no harm in getting some medical opinions xx

Yea they would have told you if it was anterior placenta as that’s the reason for me not feeling movements xx

@Charlotte oh I was told at my 20 week scan what placenta I had.. and my friends were told iswell at there 20 weeks scan sorry I didn’t know they didn’t always tell you

My midwife said even with a anterior placenta i still had to inform her at 24 weeks if I hadn't felt kicks. Better safe than sorry. I have had a anterior placenta with my first and this one. I was informed for both at my scans. And that was also at 2 different trusts as I moved out of the area. X

@Charlotte oh they told me last month that my placenta was in a position which allowed me to feel kicks, so that’s why I’ve been waiting and waiting expecting them and nothing has happened x

Maybe the baby is kicking at night when you’re asleep! I’m 23 weeks and although can feel movement it’s only been within the last week or 2 and only ever at night time. They’re not very strong yet.. I would call just incase though as will put your mind at ease! X
