Whatās the time difference between where you are and where you live. Can you call the doctor/nurse advice line
Are you throwing up or just experiencing nausea thatās keeping you from hydrating/ eating? During my morning sickness, some of the only things that helped me keep anything down was fresh ginger root as a tea and peppermint in an aroma diffuser or as a tea as well
I had hyperemesis gravidarum in my second pregnancy couldn't keep anything down. And ended up in a drip due to dehydration, The only thing that stopped the nausea and sickness was salt and vinegar walkers crisp (UK)
@Khyia I canāt call because I donāt have service. Just my home WiFi
@Zii Iām actually throwing up. A lot of it was gagging and spitting up but I have now thrown up about 15 times throughout 12 hours. No matter what I do Iāll throw it up. Tea and water too. Iāve been brushing my teeth and that helps slow it down.
@Hannah I was diagnosed with HG, but it started going away last week and I was able to eat small normal meals. All of a sudden this morning I just woke crazy sick. Iāve been trying to eat a cracker, but Iāll throw it up. What started it all was a mango and pear I ate with salt š which is my normal snack
@Kianna I see youāve said you tried to eat crackers, have you tried banana, plain rice, applesauce or toast? The BRAT diet is what a lot of drs recommend for upset stomachs or when you canāt keep anything down. These things should help bind your stomach if you havenāt tried them already!
Canāt you call for advice via WhatsApp? So you wouldnāt need service, it would work over WiFi. You must be on your way to being very dehydrated, all factors considered - and every chance your temperature may be on the way up. So really you need advice and attention - particularly rehydration.
I remember my first pregnancy I got food poisoning really bad my husband and I both from the same restaurant. I called my OB hotline and they said to wait to go to the ER until after 24 hours of not being able to keep anything down if it didnāt get any better. Before the 24 hour mark hit I was able to keep water down. If youāre really worried I would go!
@Zii I have been throwing up everything. I canāt even drink water. I tried plain rice and unfortunately I threw that up too. Itās been up to a point where I donāt want to touch anything else. Iām too scared, but even a strong smell will make me throw up. Laying down a certain way will also make me throw up. I feel super defeated.
@Khyia i also noticed itās Sunday.. I had my husband call and they wonāt answer him because the offices are closed š
I have HG as well and my advice would be to go the hospital. You might be dehydrated and need to get iv fluids. I feel for you, I hope you feel a lot better soon.
@Ayesha does HG come and go š I was fine for a week and then woke up like this
Oh snap that sucks. But you said brushing you me teeth helps ease it. I assume itās a minty toothpaste. Can you try chewing gum? Or maybe some ginger tea that helped me. Youāre gonna need your electrolytes back if you have access to Gatorade or pedialTye when you feel better or google ways to replenish them. I agree with the 24 hour mark. You just donāt want to get dehydrated but I would probably avoid food and take small slow sips of water or one of the other drinks until I feel better. You might just be putting too much on your stomach.

@Rosa I donāt know how to contact them through WhatsApp :(
@Sara my worry is I canāt keep water down, but I do want to avoid the hospital :(
You can nowadays get an online family doctor appointment, to do a videocall for advice. May be worth googling that. But worth getting medical advice one way or another as you donāt want to become very dehydrated. Are you still producing/passing any urine and have you checked your pulse rate at all?
Weird usually someone is on call to answer or you can call triage cuz they should be open 24/7 for labor emergencies... I was told if I can't keep anything down, including water then to either call triage or go to the ER after it's been 24 hours. If you're not feeling well and can't keep absolutely anything down I would definitely go in
@Rosa they charge so much for those appointments š and honestly I get no info from it.(from past experience) they give me advice on things Iām already doing. I just wanna know if baby and I will be okay or if should look for an ER here.
But essentially it sounds like in person medical review would be necessary as you probably need to be actively rehydrated. From a health perspective, you surely would feel better seeking medical attention rather that keeping wondering. The reimbursement side of things, I have no clue.
@Rosa I peed once today. Iām currently sipping a āelectrolitā praying I donāt throw it up. Pulse, I havenāt, but I think it should be normal-ish. I can usually feel when itās racing or hard. I was sweating and starting to shake thoughā¦
@Favi Iām having my husband call the hospital but sadly from experience theyāll just tell me to go in no matter what.
Yes HG can come and goes, did you have medication? Alternative to going to hospital, can you go to a pharmacy or ask someone to go for you to have anti emetic? Does your family know a doctor or have a family doctor?
Could it be something you ate and not HG? Try sucking on ice as well to keep you hydrated
@Marie I take b6. Iām currently not in the country I usually reside in which is the problem. Since Iām in a third world country I donāt know how the hospitals really operate here. Havenāt been in a hospital in Colombia since 2005š
@Marie I was diagnosed with HG so if it comes and goes then that may be it, but itās just so weird it happened after I ate that damn mango and pear with salt šš
@Kianna yeah I understand you are not in your country, is there a pharmacy nearby? They could also advice, or give you anti emetic even if you have to pay might be cheaper than hospital bill. Also, do you have a travel insurance ? maybe you are covered. I also have HG since week5 then it was better I second trimester, now in third trimester feeling sick again....if you are struggling too much, you should go to the hospital and see how it works for the bill, your health and your baby health is more important than an invoice but I understand it's not ideal
@Marie the pharmacies here are family owned they wonāt usually give advice. I donāt think they have anything pregnancy safe here thatās anti-nausea especially without a doctor diagnosis to know whatās going on. I donāt have travel insurance, but my husband is in the military and they said whatever we spend here medically ca. get reimbursed. Yeah Iām 12 weeks and two days. Iāve been feeling great this past week, amazing even, but now since this morning Iāve been so sickly š Iāll have to talk to my parents. I asked them and they just donāt think itās ideal. Iām so worried for my babies and health.
Something similar happened to me a few years ago except I wasnāt pregnant. I am allergic to dairy and gluten and I would eat it whenever I want and one day my body just couldnāt take it anymore and I would throw up my liquids. I couldnāt hold anything down for 3-4 days and was absolutely miserable I had to go to a GI doctor and get a bunch of tests done. However you being pregnant, I would definitely see if you can get checked out for babies safety.

Can you try the water challenge. What they do with kids . If you have a syringe. Fill it up and every 10 to 15 minutes repeat. It's along process but you'll be getting fluids in slowly.
Oh I see. Then good thing if you can get reimbursed via your husband work. When you go to the hospital ask for detailed invoice and explain your situation. One or few days being sick won't impact your baby if that can reassure you. The most important thing is to stay hydrated. I would go to the hospital it can be HG or food poisoning, better to get checked and have a prescription. Good luck
If you have not kept down water for 12 hours, I would go to emergency. You need an IV drip. Unfortunately dehydration makes you vomit (fucking stupid biology) so you need an IV to break the cycle. Plus, you know, not die. Please go in.
And you need to be on a medication such as ondansetron.
Honestly youāre probably sick with something if your HG went away and suddenly got worseā¦ idk about Columbia like at all thatās so hard cuz for me, I would just go and get fluids but I am only familiar with the US system.
@Sam great idea. Iāll try that out first
@Ella I take b6. It works well, but for some reason this morning everything has been a nightmare.
If youāre vomiting lots they probably need to check your bloods as your electrolytes could be off, - potassium could be low from all the vomiting for a start. Itās all likely very treatable with rehydration at a hospital - and antiemetics. So maybe just cut to the chase and decide to go and be reviewed.
@Dory yeah Iām usually in California so I would too, but Iām not sure how it is in Colombia. They donāt take pregnancy as serious in hospitals I feel like. Third world countries š
@Rosa yeah itās a bit easier said than done, but Iāll try to do research to go to a hospital here.
I donāt doubt itās easier said than done. Hope you feel better soon and you all stay safe.
@Kianna youāre with family right? Do they know what to do or how the system works there ? They might be able to help you navigate it
@Dory yes, but we havenāt been here in 8 years and hospitals here are very different than the US.. I think it may be a risk which is why Iām so hesitant to go
I'd try to call your OB if you can, even the after hours to ask them what you should do. But it sounds like you might have caught a stomach bug IF it was acute. Don't use the tap water or eat salad washed with tap water. Could've been something you ate the night before too.
@Roya my husband called them for me and they just told him to have me come in even though they know Iām out the country. I donāt use tap water. Iāve only eaten a couple fruits this morning with salt and thatās where it all started. I keep throwing everything up including my small sips of pedialyte.

I research out of curiosity but seems the health care system is not too bad in Colombia if you go to a private hospital and might be cheaper than you think. I encourage you to go get checked. You can't stay this way anyway
Better to go than not to is the a way I see it
B6 is just a vitamin, it's not an anti nausea medication
Sounds like you need medical attention. Hopefully your family can help navigate the healthcare options out there. If you are established with a healthcare provider in California, they likely have a doctor on duty to answer questions. You could also reach out and explain whatās happening and get advice
I had this happen to me and they couldnāt figure out what was wrong but they did give me IV and zofran to make me feel better
