Maternity leave

Anyone on maternity leave who is working in a school as support staff? Obviously we are getting back paid from April. Do you only get back paid from dates you was at work and not on maternity leave?

Maternity leave counts as employment so you should still receive it

I hadn't even heard about any kind of back pay? Are all support staff getting this?

I don’t work in a school, but get 6 months full maternity pay before then 3 months SMP, if you’re on full maternity pay during these months you’ll get the back pay. If you’re on SMP you don’t get it. May be worth checking with someone at work Who’s been on maternity or your employer 😃

What is this back pay? Is it just for school support staffs?

@Niamh I went on mat leave in Feb? I'm on SMP with a top up from work? Can't remember what it's exactly called without checking... what is the back pay for? Xx does anyone know please?

I might have got it wrong but I thought she might have been referring to the government pay increase but not to sure? If so I’m military and we got ours the end of september so if you were getting paid full maternity pay you’d get back pay from the time you were getting full pay. For instance next year I’ll be on maternity and will get it for April, may, June and some of July as that’s when I was getting paid full maternity pay. But I’m unsure I might have got what she meant completely wrong😂x
