Help

I’ve sent my resignation letter by email a month before my return date. I got a reply saying “thanks I will get this processed for you” but it’s now been 4 days and haven’t heard from them? Should I just wait or contact them? I am also meant to get paid for 25 days annual leave.

You could definitely send a follow up email asking for an update since it’s been some time. I think with my company, you forfeit any leave you haven’t taken when you quit. I’d for sure ask about that in the follow up to be sure.

You can contact them to ask them if anything else is needed from you and ask about the process . When you resign you usually get paid out for any vacation you did not use . But it is best to contact your work!

Did you take the full 12 month? Even though the last three months are unpaid you are still liable for your pension contributions and NI (I believe). Those get deducted from your pay when you return to work. If you’re not returning you’ll have to pay that. Or I guess your employer will take it from your annual leave . It’s bizarre but I had to sign whenever I was returning to the same job after maternity for exactly this reason

@Jana I’m not sure. Yes I’ve taken the 12 months last 3 being unpaid. And I have nearly 5 weeks of annual leave already booked which i am taking atm. I was on the phone the other day with labour relations agency and they’ve said I don’t need to pay anything back as I’ve only received SMP and that my employer should still pay my annual leave. I’m just not sure why it’s taking so long to process the resignation but also I’ve never resigned from any job I’ve had before so not really sure how it works x

@Destiny thanks ☺️ I have sent an email today and they replied with a document called “exit interview” and asked me to complete it. But for some reason I’m not being able to open it lol so will have to phone them tomorrow

@Valeria I will do that ☺️ thank you!
