The letter says they usually pay at the beginning of every week or every 4 weeks, so I'm guessing they're paying you weekly, so you'll get a payment every Monday

@Becky yes but what I’m wondering is when do I get the backdated payment? I am supposed to be getting over a grand but only for 1 week of payments

Ahh, I see, I'm not sure I'd call them. Also, I'm sure you can only be backdated for up to 3 months

@Becky i will defos phone them in the morning! Yea they have backdated jt 3 months from my date of application which was August time x

If you're entirled to £42.55 a week and that's backdated by 3 months, it'd work out £510.79 not over a grand, unless you're entitled to more FYI x

@Becky it has been back dated 3 months from my application in August which is May x

@Becky 20th of May so that’s 26 weeks 26 x 42.55 works out as £1106 x

If you put your claim in May and they can only backdate it by 3 months. Surely you should've started to be paid in August? How come you've had to wait 6 months before they pay you? If you were eligible for Child Benefit before HMRC got your claim, it will be automatically backdated - up to a maximum of 3 months. This means you'll get an extra 1, 2 or 3 months' of Child Benefit included in your first payment.

@Becky the application was in August so 3 months before August is May. The letter says I am getting it back dated from the 20th of May

I know £42.55 a week if for 2 children. Was it a brand new claim you’ve put it or did you just put in the claim to update it? If it’s just an update to a claim already held, they will then back pay for any outstanding amounts, for instance the amount they will owe for second child - as should have continued receiving payments for first child. If it’s for a brand new claim for 2 children then they’ll back pay it all meaning you’ll receive a quite a large amount.

@Amberley hi thanks it was a brand new payment so I should have got it all at once then? X

Ok. So with mine I got it all in one lump sum, along with the weekly payment for that week. But I did have to query it with them on the phone, as they hadn’t paid it and I’d not heard from them, so that’s when they fast tracked the back payment x

I'd definitely just give them a call and enquire, but I think it'll be paid in a lump sum!

Thanks everyone got the 1101 backdated today x
