Birth plans 🤍

Hey, I am nearly 18 weeks pregnant with my first. When have you discussed birth plans with your midwife? Nothing really has been mentioned yet. Is 20 weeks too soon?

Week 36

just seen my midwife at 33 weeks, she's booked me an appointment at 36 weeks to discuss it! 🩷

It was crazy to me when i found out but you don’t discuss until 36 weeks!! i personally think that is way too late🙈i like having things well planned. i personally am sorting my birth plan myself so i know what i want and then will mention to midwife at 36 but ill know i have it planned in case baby makes a suprise early arrival! xx

I've just hit 34 weeks, I had a rough plan written out a few weeks ago but I went through it with my partner last night to make a final plan. You don't need to worry about it too much right now. I would definitely recommend attending parent education classes so that you know what your options are, believe me, it helps!

It’s usually around 36 weeks

Also keep in mind what you plan might not actually happen these babies are unpredictable 😅

My plan ended up being ‘Get this baby out of me in the safest way possible for me and the baby and give me any pain relief I can have!’ I didn’t want to look back and be disappointed that I had my heart set on a specific type of birth for it to not happen because of some kind of complication etc.

@Naomi I agree. I never made a plan. You can’t plan something as big as child birth. You can say what you would ideally want or not want, but when you’re physically going through that everything changes, your mindset is different and your needs are different in the moment. I never even bothered with a plan. The only thing I said I definitely didn’t want I ended up having … so it’s a prime example that you just can’t plan for things like this xx

I wrote it like a month ago only, currently 39 weeks😅

Yeh I never really had a plan and what actually happened I never expected. I was also told at my 36 week appointment they’ll only briefly discuss it as they ask more when you actually went into labour. My second is an elective c section so I do have a plan this time still that could all change 😅

36 weeks week appointment was a double one to go through it

34 weeks they usually do it x

I was told that by my midwife and consaultant that my plan would be out in place at 32 weeks. I am in Birmingham area maybe different for different hospitals

I’m 36 + 5 and my midwife will read mine at my 37th week appointment. She advised for me to do one for natural, c section and emergency labour. However I’m being induced on the 28th of this month so they don’t really plan you for that! Aha

I’ve just had my 16 week appointment and she asked me to start thinking about any preferences I may have. It wasn’t much of a conversation, just her asking me to start having a think about it for my next appointment which will be at 25 weeks x
