Please help

Hello everyone, I am currently freaking out and need some reassurance. I ate some toast with jam this morning and then went to put the jam away and saw mould all around the rim of the jar and the lid! I am now freaking out. I called maternity assessment unit but the midwife said I should be fine because it’s unlikely that it would have got on the jam itself that I was eating but I am not sure. I am 35 weeks pregnant. Is the baby going to be ok? I feel so so stupid. I cannot believe I’ve put my baby at risk over something like this.

Hey lovely. I’ve also done the same during pregnancy (ate jam and there was mould in the jar), I didn’t realise until after. I’ve also eaten mouldy bread - it’s an easy mistake. I’d say just monitor your symptoms - if you feel ill, speak to MA again.. but it’s unlikely that it will harm you or baby x

This happened to me with cheese, was expired but unopened and no mould at all, later realised it was expired and panicked, I have had no symptoms or stomachache x

Wouldn’t worry about it at all. If you aren’t sick it’s unlikely to have reached the baby. Plus at 35 weeks your baby is fully developed and will be strong xx
