Worried

I just had bright lights like stars in my vision so I came to my local hospital to check my blood pressure, even tho it's an hour away from the one my ob delivers at. They didn't tell me if my blood pressure was high but they have me waiting for a room. Just wanted to talk to someone who can maybe relate as my family members are already asleep and my boyfriend's worriedness doesn't help.

I just checked my bp at home. I’m wondering if I should go to the ER.

@A’Lona I never bought anything to check it at home, so here I am. How was your blood pressure?

That’s not good I had that before but I don’t know if it’s related to diabetes or high blood pressure definitely go to your primary care doctor

i checked mine at home & it was high (163/116) so i went to the hospital at 37 weeks 6 days, i was also having contractions & they admitted me & i had my baby the next morning. i caught it early so it was gestational hypertension, not yet preeclampsia & everything ended up perfect, me & my babygirl were healthy

Oh my gosh I’m glad you went to the hospital hypertension can be deadly I had gestational diabetes and high blood pressure while pregnant

@Ashlyn were you able to have it naturally?

@Callista first check 142/100 Second check 137/92 No contractions though

Within the past week I had this happen to me twice.. where i saw star like spots in my vision… honestly.. I didn’t check my blood pressure right at those moments. But when I checked it at home later or even checking it now my blood pressure is at my normal. I didn’t experience any other symptoms at those moments so I wasn’t too worried. Did you not see or did they not tell you your blood pressure numbers? Do you know what your normal blood pressure is? Everyone’s own “normal” is different vs the textbook normal

@A’Lona your Bp is really high I would call my OB if I were you this could be a sign of preeclampsia

@A’Lona I'd suggest you go it's better to be safe

@Leslie an my appointments they always tell me but I never remember my normal blood pressure numbers n here I just was able to read 131 they didn't tell me. I should've asked tho.

@Callista I highly recommend keeping a personal record of your vitals because some providers will lie to cover their a** if something goes wrong and they need to be held accountable for it. I’ve had two Cna’s lie about my bp to cover themselves and I record it myself so they can’t not be held responsible for not doing anything.

@Khy I will start doing this from now one then! Thank you I never thought about it like that

131 for systolic is textbook “high” buttttttt I honestly really think it’s important to know what your normal blood pressure is in order to know when you yourself are experiencing high blood pressure. If you have a MyChart for your doctors office you can probably see your bp measures there

@Leslie thank you for letting me know me know I do not have access to that but I'm wondering if I can ask for my past records. I'm still at the hospital waiting for a room.
