But now we're TTC for a second and I'm just not even ovulating. Again I've not been on contraception for 3 years and only really really trying for the last couple months, but even though I've not been that long trying they are sending me for blood tests and will do an immediate referral as they know I have PCOS. I would just go to the GP and exaggerate how long it's been if you really want the tests through NHS. I spoke to a fertility clinic recently and they do all those tests as a first screening before consultation and it would cost me just under £600. So might be worth trying with the GP first just to see what you can get
@Katie thanks so much! I think you are right to start with the GP. Sounds like you have had quite the journey, fingers crossed for your baby number 2!!
I have PCOS but I knew something was wrong as I have very irregular periods. I luckily started with getting the tests and assessments done early on. I just pretended I was TTC as I knew something was wrong and wanted to know at a young age so I could be prepared when I then did want to TTC. I think you need two of the 3 main symptoms, irregular periods/infertility, hormonal imbalance (done by blood tests, I think they are looking for high testosterone which can cause the excess hair) and poly cystic ovaries (confirmed with a scan). I have the first and last symptom as I didn't have high testosterone. I did end up getting pregnant naturally the first time round but it was a complete shock as I hadn't had a period for months and hadn't used contraceptive for 4 years so just assumed it would never happen.
