Unpopular Opinion:) - Christmas VersionšŸŽ…šŸ½

I really only ask for gift cards for christmas, as well as gift cards FOR MY CHILD. I get asked why, and get a lot of backlash when i don't explain, but personally, i feel my kid doesn't need ALL them toys at ONE time. especially since his birthday is 4 months after christmas. He doesn't play with a lot of them now, so I ask for G.C, so as i go on down the months, i can get new toys with those gift cards, Yes, he still gets stuff obviously, but everyone who gets cards, usually puts more money on a G.C, than they do getting toys, which i lovešŸ„°

I completely agree with you. Plus.. sometimes people get them things they will never actually use. We know them best. Also depending on your childs age.. he can ask and pick out the things he actually wants. Gift cards are what i ask for also. Just makes things alot easier and saves people wasting their money too!

@Beth someone in my family was trying to get him walkie talkies for age 4+, he's not even 2 till 2025šŸ’€, likeeee does age not matter to people when it comes to gifts anymore? how is he gonna be able to use thatšŸ˜‚ but ig it's "harder" to shop for boys, which personally, i think is very very wrong

@Nakaela honestly my family/friends do the same. Just grab him a random toy and dont even take time to think about it. Id rather them get something cheaper that heā€™ll actually enjoy and theyā€™ve put thought into.. then spend more money on something thats not even appropriate for him that he wont even use. So gift cards are always better. My sons 2 in march 2025 and my stepmother got him a bike?? No safety bars or extra wheels. A huge bike? Like im grateful ofcourse.. but he will not touch that for yearsšŸ˜†šŸ˜† it can be frustrating.

@Beth awe my son will be 2 in march also:), but like maybe a little electric bike at leastšŸ˜¬ there's some for age 2, but a big bike? gonna have cobwebs on it by the time he can use itšŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Even when my boy does get a heap of presents I donā€™t let him open them all in one go- I store it above his closet and bring them out as I see fit throughout the year. Itā€™s more exciting that way. Just because he gets 10 doesnā€™t mean he gets to open and play with all 10. I donā€™t like clutter, and I want to teach them delayed gratification. His Aunties get him HEAPS on Xmas they spoil him. Sometimes I regift it also.

Thats a great idea. My family just gives me money for the kids and asks me to buy for them and I use it for the big things they otherwise wouldnt be able to get. Its exhausting coming up with things from other family as well but at least this way I can pool the money if needed and can pick things we will actually use.

I make a registry for my kids on Amazon and share with anyone interested. I also tend to pack away a bunch of toys to rotate out later

I make a registry/wishlists every year for my son of his likes and interests plus educational . My son got a bike with training wheels before he can actually ride it which is fine with me (itā€™s also Spider-Man - what he likes). He now has tons of scooters (2-3) and 2 bikes (1 I mentioned and a balance bike). This year, we arenā€™t spending Christmas with families as Iā€™ll be in recovering from child birth. My oldest sister asked if I wanted money or gifts. I opted for money but then we went shopping yesterday and saw what I wanted to get for my son. So , she asked me again. I told her, yeah. Letā€™s do it.

We put most of the toys away once we get them and space out when they get to play
