Unemployment

I use to work from home but was planning to work in office. With daycares no longer accepting my child’s age I have had to request a change of shift 8-2. They agreed even HR. Then they switched it to 8-5 over a phone call. I was recently given an ultimatum to quit my job. After months of harassment I finally gave my notice. It’s right before the holidays so I am unsure how I can go about applying for unemployment. How would I even know if I qualify?

Show your support

If you voluntarily quit, you would likely not be eligible for unemployment. I would contact an employment lawyer ASAP. Maybe you'll have a case for discrimination due to being a working mom if there is proof they agreed to something and of the harassment. Just reference for next time, never ever quit. Even if they are giving ultimatum after ultimatum, make them fire you because you'll be eligible for unemployment and have an even more solid paper trail of harassment. Even if they are point blank asking, state that "you intend to continue to fill your role." Make them get rid of you.

I have so much audio messages

That is great! Most states in the US are at-will employment states so the burden is on you to show proof if they're violating employment law. Any emails, texts, and audio will help you prove that you were being discriminated against (potentially). You should be able to get a free consult with an employment lawyer where they can review your case and let you know if you have one.
