I found this video the other day and copies some of these ideas. Found most things on amazon... although the Reindeer Teether didn't seem to exist in the UK x
We went for a little book, stuffed toy and mini tambourine
Reposting my replies to another post:
I have tonnes of ideas, especially as our babies will be nearly 2 by next Xmas and gift giving season I’m thinking ahead to what a 24 month old might like too. I asked friends with older kids what theirs played with most: - Pikler Set (climbing triangle, rocking arch, and slide/climbing wall) cheap second hand on Vinted available - Soft Play blocks, loads of options and price points available - Montessori Kitchen Aid - a little young yet maybe but my girl is a confident stander and if she could reach sink could play for hours there - Ikea soft play mat - Ball Pit - Outdoor Mud Kitchen - Indoor IKEA kitchen - Balance Bike - again a little young but by 24 months should be useable - Push trike with parent handle - Busy Board (could do DIY one to make more special and cheap) - Tonies Box (arguably for older kids but can keep it and build up collection) - Clark’s first shoes voucher - Clothes (sized for people to know what they will be in in winter and spring/summer) …
- A puddle suit for when then start puddle jumping! - Slippers - Wellies - Magnatiles (2 friends have said they are the most played with toy ever) - Finger puppet books - Sound making books - Peekaboo books - Little People Big Dreams books (you can get them ones that resonate with you/your interests etc which you would like to foster in your baby) - Stacking cups (great for this age baby at present) - Grimms wooden stackers (expensive but can get second hand) - Grapat Nins (again expensive, get on Vinted, great for creating imaginative play) - Pull along toy (animal/train) - Wooden cutting fruit/veggies (great for hand eye coordination and dexterity) - Pop up toy (https://amzn.eu/d/0W3fgE0) - Tub of wooden building blocks (can’t use fully now but you can show them how to build/knock down things) - Cars (I have a girl but girls can like cars too!) - Wooden train set (that can be added to over time and people contribute to, like Moby) - Pounding bench …
- Watering can for the bath - Bath toys like cups they can practise pouring water etc - Suction Toy to put on side of bath or shower that they can pour water in etc - Wooden ice cream stall - The journal book ‘50 things to do before you’re 5’ with fun activities for weekends you can make a little journal of all the things you did with them when they were too young to remember - A fidget popper, love to chew them at the minute but will like playing when older too - Shape sorter (either one where they pop the shape in a hole or slot it in a slot) - A mini dustpan and brush (my girl loves watching me sweep and wants to hold it and sweep too so we got her a mini one 😂, teaching her young!) I could probably go on but won’t lol. I am trying to avoid loud and light up toys and plastic as much as possible. The ones my friends said were most played with was the Ikea play kitchen, the Magnatiles, and the Melissa & Doug Ice Cream stall.
My LO is also less than 2 weeks between their Christmas and birthday as well but they have an older sibling. I have bought them bath toys for their stocking and nothing else. While I spent the same amount on my other with chocolate and sweets for their stocking.
