It’s a completely personal experience! If you’re ready then, go for it! I’m off for two weeks at Christmas then back for two weeks and my first official day of maternity is 20th January. I’m due 28th feb but having baby earlier as I’m having a section before 39 weeks. I’d probably have started it by my Christmas break but doing it this way means I don’t loose out too much money as I’ll use my holidays at the end of maternity so I’ve got full pay x
@Keeley is it to soon to go on maternity as it’s 7 weeks till my due date if I do?
I’m due on the 2nd February but will be going on maternity from Christmas, take however long you need and what feels right to you x
@Paris I wouldn’t say so no, the only reason I’m staying till 24th of Jan is because I have a qualification to finish and my mat pay is 90% of 6 weeks then ssp x
I am taking maternity from a day before I’m due, did the same with my first. Don’t want to loose paid time just sitting at home doing nothing rather than use it when baby is here. Also I don’t have a job where I need to stand all day which makes a difference. But it’s personal preference!
I'm taking 2 weeks annual leave from end of jan just for some time to relax/get final bits ready then taking maternity leave from 17 Feb on my due date! But I'll be wfh so completely different to someone who's got a more active/out and about job. I don't think I'd last to 38 weeks if I was!
I’m due 26th and going off from the 1st of Jan 😅 it’s up to you when you go off!!
I’m due 14th of feb and I’m starting my maternity leave on the 16th December. Think it depends what job you do and what you feel like you need to do as I don’t think me or bump would be able to work past this time 👍🏻
I think it totally depends how you feel & your personal circumstances 🥰 there is no right or wrong! Personally I am finishing on 31st Jan & due 26th Feb. Want some time to myself before the chaos begins haha xx
I’m 7 weeks away and Ive just gone on maternity leave today.
I’ve got 8 weeks to go (5th Feb) and will be going off next Thursday (19th Dec) x
i’m due the 23rd feb and working until the 22nd of jan, i want longer and the other end. I work for nhs doing 12 hour shifts but trying to just push through 😩
My due date is 16th and last day is Friday 14th.. only because I am not staying the full year , only the months I will get paid. So dont want to just waist time sitting at home waiting. Tho planing to talk to work to be at home for the last month or so.
I’m due on 3 Feb and my last day is 17 Jan. I took a month off with my first but I wanted to have more time with the baby this time, rather than before xx it’s personal choice tho

Hey :) I’m due on the 28th of feb but finishing on 31st January because I have annual leave to use up. Is this the case fore you or are you taking it as maternity? Honestly, it’s whatever you feel most comfortable with. I know my friends said they felt unable to work and struggled for the last month so you do whatever you feel is best :) x
I’m due 15th Feb and my last working day is 8th January :)
i’m due feb 16 and went on leave from today!! it’s totally up to you
Hey I’m due on the 25th of feb. And I’m going on Mat leave from the 24th of January x
