My trust weren't great with flexibility and I'm a single mother. I'm now on bank, gives me all the flexibility I need.
@Maddie honestly it took so long to even get my maternity sorted, there was no chance I was going to get my return sorted before I left too!
@Emily I wish I could just do bank for a while, but they don’t really do bank for my current role!
I’d email now with a flexible working request, you can always CC in HR as well as your manager which usually helps get things pushed through!
I’m in a similar position to you and I was told by my manager to put it in 3 months in advance incase I need to appeal it. I hope it all works out for you x
The sooner the better I’m having this difficulty now with response as I go back in June as I want to cut my mat leave end of April to take A/L till June x
The sooner the better.
Sooner the better! Honestly jusg been sorting mine now and the anxiety it has caused going back and forth negotiating! Feel like it's dampened the end of my leave and made me dread going back even more. So I would submit/ sort now then can relax knowing it's all official and sorted. X
I have submitted mine already ( my girl was about 2.5 months). It was approved but I am only part time and we have a large team
Thanks everyone, new to this, will definitely get it submitted in the next couple of weeks (won’t expect a reply over Christmas!)
Yes discussing mine now! I don’t have flexi working but want to do 3 days a week. I would not delay at all with these things when it comes to NHS.
Put it in now, one less thing weighing on your mind! Gives you chance to appeal or make a decision about what you want to do without a RTW being imminent. As someone who has worked for NHS HR make sure you Manager submits a return from mat leave form before you go back on A/L or working (whichever you're doing) because if they forget and your payroll record isn't updated you won't get paid that first month back. Have seen it so many times and don't find out until the lady gets nada on payday x
@Bobbie Thankyou! I’ve been in touch and going to get it done. I’ll definitely make sure she submits that, she didn’t submit my maternity leave forms without me begging her every week, so that will be fun!
I’ve only just started Mat leave, baby due Thursday, and have already had this discussion with my manager!
