Free childcare hours for working parents

I have only just been able to create a tax free childcare account for my April baby as it wouldn’t let me apply while I was on maternity leave. As I have submitted the application, I have also been given a code for free hours for working parents. I did not think I would be eligible as he turns 9 months on 21st Jan so should get the free hours from summer term in April. Has anyone else returned to work and received the free hours despite the baby being 8 months at the start of the spring term? I’m just waiting for a response from my nursery.

You get the code when you sign up, but you're not actually able to use it until the next term, so it will be April for us. You'll have the same code every time you reconfirm which you have to do every 3 months.

I’ve read the message thoroughly. I got a little excited that I had the code and thought I could save £1,320 more than anticipated.

My childminder has put through my code and free hours and given me my invoice for what we owe her. I haven’t yet had any issues or her query it. So I am under the assumption it’s worked

Sadly it won't work until April 🫠😭

Is there an eligibility to avail free childcare hours?

@Shivarchi I’m not sure what you are asking. These free hours are for the children of working parents where both parents work. If you want to find out if you are eligible for any of the childcare options, take a look at the childcare choices website. https://www.childcarechoices.gov.uk/?utm_source=Google&utm_medium=PPC&utm_campaign=Childcare_Choices_24_25&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAowZrsmhuguogho4kGBdCq2dFlksE&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIjbnKqZq3igMVEIpQBh1yZxohEAAYASAAEgIuHPD_BwE
