As someone that does work from home and has had baby at home a couple of days whilst he’s settling in nursery, you cannot do both. You still need childcare to be able to work at home. I work for an ecommerce platform in account management which I love and I am super lucky though as they’re so flexible with hours but you still have to do full time hours and be able to concentrate properly
I work from home two days per week (then in the office the other 3 days) - my daughter is at nursery in the mornings then family members watch her in the afternoons. On the odd afternoon where I’ve had to watch her, work just does not get done. I find that you cannot give your all to your job, or your baby/toddler. You may be able to find something that has flexible hours, but I don’t know how likely that is to be honest.
Work as a teaching assistant but would love a work from home job that actually pays well
I used to work for an energy company in account management & complaints. I worked from home 5 days a week and only had to visit the office once in a blue moon, and was always planned far in advance. However now I have a baby there is nooo way I could manage to work and parent at the same time, despite how ‘easy’ the job was I just don’t feel like you’d be able to juggle the demand of your baby, and the workload. However, utility companies often offer WFH so maybe worth a look if it allows more flexibility? X
Yeah I tried working from home with my baby and it was a disaster. You can't be a present parent as needed for your baby so it's not good for the baby, and you can't do your job properly x
Both my husband and I work from home permanently and definitely wouldn’t be able to look after our son at home full time too. We just about manage it on Fridays between us but that’s because I didn’t want to send him to nursery 5 days a week. Now with my second it’s likely they will both need to go full time when I go back to work
At Sam I work as a TA as well but we just became an academy.I can take time off for anything, they make things really difficult..I m so stressed out I m on my own with my daughter and I can't attend any school events,I never pick her up for school, take her to breakfest club, all for minimum wage...
I work in HR and yet to hear of any kind of job that you can actually do at home while looking after the baby. Most companies now have contract clauses or working from home policies that say you arent allowed to do both. It would need to be a job with no meetings or video calls, and very flexible, possibly telesales?
