WIBTA?

Would I be the asshole if I sold the things my “in-laws” got me for Christmas? They’ve known me over a decade, as I’ve been dating their son. We have two kids together. Not married. These people didn’t get the items I sent on my list and obviously don’t know me very well. They got me shoes, not in any style any of us would wear, which are also two sizes too big. (They bought them based on the size I was when I was 9 months pregnant and SUPER swollen with our first(years ago)). Then, they got me a Polaroid camera and refills. (This is his cousins territory, I prefer regular printed pictures). Plus two ulta gift cards “because every girl can use makeup” (I had a panic attack the last time I went into ulta over two years ago and still haven’t went back) plus I’m not a girlie girl. I rarely do my makeup so it usually expires before I even use all of it. Those combined would be enough to start the business that I’ve been wanting to for awhile now. So would I be the asshole to sell them and start my business? Thoughts?

Now I never expect them to get me anything, but they always insist. So I sent things I’ve been wanting that are well within price range(one item was $30 the other was $12, so under the $50 usual limit one has).

Yeah, sell and start ur business that makes u happy. X

Abit different but my boyfriends family get me things like biscuits, chocolates etc.. knowing full well that i am coeliac so biscuits are a no go and certain chocolates are a may contain. I usually take them to work or give them to other people that can eat them. If it was things i could sell then i would too!

Wait a while. !!! Then go ahead.

Definitely sell them if you think that’s what you want to do but I wanted to give you a side note that just states shampoos and conditioners can be bought at Ulta too and that’s one of the reasons I used to go in there!!

Sell but don’t let them know so no feelings are hurt.

My in-laws are similar 🫤. They ask me what I would like then send me something completely random. 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Did they ask you for a list? All of those things are nice. You have kids, so Polaroids are fun. They remembered what size you wear (even if they were wrong because it was during pregnancy) and everyone can use an ultra gift card. They sell shampoo, soap and chapstick.

No one is obligated to keep gifts for eternity. Our homes would be even more cluttered if this was the case. Sell, trash, donate, or give away - it’s yours to decide what to do with

I’d maybe keep the camera because it sounds cool and then you could give them some photos from it. But the rest of the stuff I reckon you could get away with selling without them knowing and their feelings getting hurt

Sell them and start your business but you can also use your Ulta gift card to get body wash and shampoo and stuff too if you ever wanted! I love tree hut scrubs and body washes and they have those there for a really good price. But other than that, sell! Do what makes you happy!! They don’t have to know lmao.

We did Christmas stuff today and my in laws & their side of the family all got my daughter crap toys that we would never use even though I had a list🙄 my MIL excuse was “it’s fun to shop and browse”
