Seperate presents for step children…

Last year was my first Christmas with my step son. His dad got him majority of his gifts like PS5 etc and clothes (he’s 11) I got him a few smaller things. This year we now have our 9 month old baby too and have decided to do joint gifts from me and his dad to our stepson and a gift from the baby to him. I saw him at the weekend and he asked me what was he getting from me and his dad for Christmas - I said you’ll have to wait and see as it will be from all of us. The look of disappointment was real!! He’s getting ALOT of stuff and now we are a family unit with the baby to me it makes sense to share the gifts to him. We won’t be with him on Christmas morning so he’ll open his presents separately once we see him in the evening. Does anyone do separate gifts to stepkids or do you jointly give from you and your partner? The baby will be getting a much smaller amount of presents and these will again be form both of us so seems right to keep it fair. Opinions?

We do joint gifts as well.

My husband and I started dating when his kids were 3 and 4. We have always done joint gifts.

We also do joint but I usually get him something and he gets him 34928 other things lol

It makes sense to do joint gifts, but this is an opportunity to add a positive interaction to your relationship, so don't waste it! Take one of the smaller joint gifts and have it be "from you." Or, get something small but silly. Around that age, I got my husband and stepson matching socks, and they were into it. If I see something I think my steps will like, I get it, if not they get things "from all of us." This year ss14 is getting a Venus fly trap. 🪰🪴

Me and my boyfriend have been dating for 4 years since his kids were 2 yo and 3yo and mine was 8mo. We now have a 2 yo and a 2mo together. All the kids get joint gifts from us

We have always done joint gifts. Just like if mom and dad were together, the kids would get joint gifts from their parents.

First year I met SD I got her separate gifts for her birthday. For every birthday and Christmas since then, we have done joint. She loves hearing who has picked the present though.
