Question About Maternity Payment Plans at Methodist or Memorial

First-time mom here, and I’m going to Methodist. Did anyone have to pay a delivery fee before actually delivering the baby? They gave me a maternity plan that includes professional fees for prenatal/postnatal office visits and delivery only If so- we’re your payments high for those that did not qualify for Medicaid or chip

I’m having my baby at memorial but did something similar. I just paid the global payment which covers the same thing you said. My insurance covered a lot, but I had the option of paying in full or in a few installments. But everything had to be paid by week 20!

Oh okay! What is global payment? They just did mine in installment payments but they are high like $400. I guess it depends on insurance

@Blanca m it’s what insurance calls the pre-payment/deposit for prenatal care and the delivery fees! My payments were also like $400

Oh okay! Thank you… wow it’s a lot :(

I am also delivering at Methodist and have to pay at my 20 week. My sister in law had both at women’s hospital of Texas and they did the same thing. I guess it’s pretty standard 🫠

Thank you for sharing!

Definitely standard and based on insurance. Thought that was crazy when I moved from NY to Texas in 2018. I was like pay BEFORE I give birth?! But since then quotes I’ve gotten over the years have been $3-4k

Thanks for sharing! It’s wild that we have to pay before delivery
