HI everyone. I was going to apply for child maintenance and I’m really confused. He’s self employed. He says he’s had no work recently (okay I’ve heard that excuse for a year) I know last year he applied for uc and had to supply earning info to UC each month. If UC gave him any money at all that month is it true that my payment would then become like £14 lol. Also he owns his property so I don’t believe he gets housing payments from uc. Basically first year of self employment too so I understand they won’t base it off last tax year. Also cash in hand is a massive thing so even when we can base it off previous tax year it won’t be right :(

I’m sorry to hear this Iv hurd of a similar story sadly . My friends ex declared he was only getting minimum wage when he was self employed but he had a house a car and was earning more than minimum but because he was only declaring the bare minimum that’s what they could submit to child maintenance it’s disgusting. I wish there was a way they can inforce things like that and also the going abroad were some baby dads got to avoid being made to pay so many disgusting things these men do to not pay for there children x

My ex says he earns 8k a year self employed!! He doesn't even pay the small amount he's meant to. Lots of loopholes with self employed unfortunately

I got CMS my ex is on UC and I get £27 a month if he was working it would be depending on how much he earns from his job

Hi everyone thanks for you responses. My understanding is not matter how much he earns if he gets even £1 from UC you get that basic amount of roughly £28. When I do the online calculator no matter how much I say he earns if I select uc u get the standard. So I’m assuming csa would change month to month however I fear it would never be that easy. It’s crazy. I feel as if it’s not worth it. I don’t understand why there’s not more set up for self employed
