Yep. Got mine on the 20th. They don’t expect you to get work till they’re three. But they start to bring you in now to do ‘work shops’ to help you with your cv ect
I’m looking at getting back into work. Is there any reason your little one can’t do a full day at nursery (like 8-4/9-5 or whatever works for your job), rather than just school hours? You may just have to look around a bit to find some that do longer hours but there should be some!
Could you maybe do mobile hair dressing? Or from your home? That could be nice and could maybe get more customers x
If you’re eligible for UC would you not get the 15 free hours and eligibility to claim back up to 75% of fees so you could get them into nursery for more than 15 hours. I think realistically they expect you to put them in for more than 15 hours and pay for some hours but depending on where you live the price of nursery is sickening. We moved from North Yorkshire to central London in the summer. My two were in 3 full days a week and that was around £1000 a month total for both, here in London that wouldn’t even cover one of their fees for a month. There’s just no way we can afford to do it here so I can’t afford to work until at least one of them is in school and the other is eligible for the 30 free hours but I’m also pregnant with baby number 3 haha x
Yep! I had mine last week and was thinking the same thing about doing an apprenticeship but I don’t think you can get UC doing apprenticeships and most of them are full time so you then have to pay for childcare too x
