Old-school name and a pretty one ❤️ lots of older names are coming back around

Joy is my middle name, and I always loved it! I wished it was my first name! ❤️

I like it but I also feel like it could be a heavy name for some people to carry, there would be this added pressure to be a cheery/joyful character. What if her personality doesn’t fit?

Joy is my stepdad’s mom’s name and she is the opposite of joy… I don’t like it for a name just considering it’s also a word that could be used against her in a way. It’s not a bizarre name or anything I just don’t like adjective word names. It also makes me think of Serena Joy in The Handmaid’s Tale, she is not a very good character. Personally, I have no good associations with it.

I don’t know why but I think of it as a middle name? Maybe cos it goes great with lots of other names 🤷🏽‍♀️ It’s cute.

Thanks for your answers! I should mentioned we are foreigners living in England so we needed a name we can easily pronounce in England, in my country and my husbands country :)
