Jackson nickname Sonny

Would it be ok to use ‘Sonny’ as a nickname for Jackson? We decided on Jackson a while back before we knew we were going to move near my sister in law who has a dog called Jack. We move in March and there’s already confusions and I don’t want my little boy being confused for a dog. My husband does have an uncle called Sonny but he’s hardly around, and when we would be we can just call my son Jackson to avoid the confusion there. Or is that even more confusing?

I feel like its a stretch... but if it makes you happy then go for it

Personally I wouldn’t want to change the name of my son for a dog. Maybe a nickname for the dog? X

@Nicola I’ve tried 🫣 but the dog has been around for way longer and they seem to be stuck in their ways in calling him Jack!

Call your baby what you like! Although if you like Sonny Id just call the baby that as its nothing like Jackson. Both are lovely names though xx

I think it works as a nickname for Jackson. You could also use Jacks/Jax as a nickname.

It’s a great nickname! Think it’s actually quite creative and wouldn’t have thought of it myself x

I think if you like Jackson and have decided on that then stick to it. I wouldn’t worry about the dog. Your little boy will end up calling the dog “doggy” first but your son will always be addressed by his name, Jackson
