Have you considered getting a double and a small single for the baby? I got a cybex eazy twist on market place for about £30. It’s small and very lightweight and you can get a newborn ‘nest’ to put in it, so when you’re out with just the baby you could use that.
I had my 2nd just before my first turned 1 and started with the silver cross wave, lots of people have recommended however I hated it, it’s extremely heavy & having to take all the parts off and back on while getting in and out the car took ages! We ended up going for a double stroller & also a 2nd hand single stroller for when our girl is wanting to walk. Baby jogger double & the ickle bubba Venus have a bassinet attachment for newborns as well. It’s so much easier than reassembling a pram every time we wanted to go out!
Thanks all! We still actually have our Ocarro travel system so could potentially use that and just purchase a fairly lightweight easy to fold double stroller for use with both? Maybe that’s the best way to go
I had my second in November I got the icandy orange cause it goes from single to double. Also what sold me was the built in buggy board so when my first is able to use that will make it easier. But I love the pram so far l don’t find it heavy as a tandem.
The great thing about the ocarro is the seat can lie flat so you can switch it between children. So you might head to the park with the baby in the carrier and the toddler in the seat, and when you get there the toddler can get out, you can recline the seat and put the baby in it!
@HMK that’s a really good shout - thank you!
I have a Joie double but also kept my silver cross single so that when I take my 6m to baby sensory I can take him in that. It’s a lovely pram apart from trying to get it through some doorways, can be awkward 😂
I bought a secondhand refurbished Donkey. As far as I’m aware it’s the only one out there that goes from mono to duo. Took it for a spin recently with my toddler and it’s really lovely to ‘drive’. Annoyingly where I live, most roads the cars are parked partially on the pathway so it requires a lot of ducking and diving but as I said, it’s a lovely buggy to use! I’ve not yet used it as a double (second baby due in 4 weeks) but I will say that I’ll only be using it as a double for days out because it really is massive. Also storing it in my shed rather than the house as it would need its own office 😂 I did look for more basic doubles (Like the Joie) but it hey don’t fit in the boot of my car. A downside to Bugaboo is how many parts there are but it’s handy with you have a smaller car boot as you can make it fit with a bit of Tetris!
