White coat syndrome

Anyone else have this? Mine started this pregnancy after a few previous losses. Blood pressure at my midwife appt today was systolic 145. 30 mins later at home it’s 110. Honestly as soon as I step foot in a medical setting now I feel like I’m gonna have a panic attack, it’s sooooo weird!!!! Sorry just to edit and confirm I don’t have pre eclampsia, my BP is only elevated in medical settings which is what ‘white coat syndrome’ is. I’m not asking for medical advice, just ranting!

Yes I’m starting to get a bit like this as I’m moderate risk for pre-eclampsia and all of a sudden I’m concerned my blood pressure will come back high which is a sign of the condition so was stressed about having the test when she took it!

I’ve always had this problem. My blood pressure is usually the high end of normal so in both pregnancies I’ve ended on medication as my clinic readings are 150/100 and home 130/80- 135/85. Midwife has sent me in twice now because it’s barely dropping below 140/90 at my appointments even though I monitor it twice a day at home and on medication I’m 125/75. The best thing to do is keep a note of your home readings and take a photo of your reading before you go to your appointment.

@Catherine I’ve suddenly been feeling like this also which has even caused me to have some higher readings at home until I calm myself down. I had trace protein in my urine a couple of weeks ago and that had me convinced that it was the start preeclampsia

Yes I get this with my heart rate 🥲it’s so tricky to deal with. X

@Stephanie yeah I don’t have high or raised blood pressure, it’s just white coat syndrome which means it goes up in a medical environment. I take at home readings for this reason

@Stephanie it’s hard isn’t it! Especially when they say that it’s more likely to start from the second trimester. But on the other hand, it’s really reassuring that they do all the checks at the appointments to keep an eye on it. It’s a cycle of being worried about high blood pressure, which is probably causing it to be a bit higher because we’re stressed about it . Also it doesn’t help if you have to wait in the waiting room for a bit for the appointment. I was just trying to think back to my holiday and laying on a beach 😅

@Catherine it’s really difficult to get the idea that it’s going to be high out of your head. I’ve even bought some urine dipsticks so I can keep an eye on that and I don’t worry about that going into appointments. I had blood tests at the hospital on Tuesday and they were fine so that’s calmed me down for while.
