@Samina this one in particular booked a ‘transition in’ appointment for my son regarding his eating but my daughters hv helped straight away she booked Henry healthy eating workshops, spoke about a dietitian etc so I called up to cancel the previous appointment with the other hv but I think she’ll have a problem with it
@Hayley you can request to change HV perhaps ?
I just opted out of HV appts
@Sophie can you do that? Like I know it says you can but I’ve heard some scary stories of people actually doing that and hv mentioning case protections or handing over to social services
@Hayley it's only going to be flagged to social services if it forms part of a bigger picture where there are other concerns about the family already. I've never heard a peep from anyone about it 😊
@Sophie oh right so it should be totally fine then because my daughters hv and past hv have been lovely and no issues
Tbh we barely get any where I am for them to be a problem. I will say though, I got offered extra support and it wasn't because I was young etc. She was just making sure I was ok as I was tearful in the appointment.
Health visitors are non compulsory, just say no thanks!
I know more people who have bad stories about health visitors than good ones- I would keep going as you are, I’m sure you’re doing a great job
I've had a complete mixed bag. Had one brilliant HV, a couple ok, one bad, one awful. Just seems to be luck of the draw!
Sorry to hear that. I had a good experience with mine however did find her undermining me and almost judging when I said I'm anxious to come to appts alone with baby and always have my partner accompany me. She laughed in my face and joked about it so I didn't appreciate that. Thankfully I have a different health visitor now who's absolutely lovely and understanding 😊
