Constipation

Anyone used pre made Aptamil bottles from the supermarket for constipation? I’ve seen that apparently pre made formula has a natural laxative effect so potentially might try for my little one as she poos once usually every other day at 4 weeks old however on the days when she doesn’t it’s a horrible time and she’s in a lot of pain, straining, crying, bright red. (I have tried bathing, massaging, different burping positions etc.) She’s currently on Apatamil lactose free formula (as advised by the doctor and works for her) so I’m not sure if it’s worth buying standard pre made Aptamil for the days inbetween poos or whether that could potentially mess with her stomach/ bowels even more? Or I should just go back to the doctors? (been previously for trapped wind and they prescribed Infant Gaviscon which made her constipation worse so I stopped using that after a day 🙃) xx

Not aptamil but we regularly switch our feeds for the pre made stuff (one feed a day so use a bottle every other day as it’s more expensive) but just to keep her regular and had no issues! The health visitor suggested it to us as it does have more of a laxative effect due to shorter shelf life than the powder ☺️ we’ve also bought a probiotic to help her tummy but yet to see a noticeable result xx

Amazing thank you, I think I will give it a go and if that doesn’t work then I will go back to the doctors 😅😂 xx

In theory if your LO doesn’t tolerate lactose, hence the formula, the normal aptamil should work but might that cause some discomfort if she really needs lactose free? Not sure what would be worse, discomfort from not being able to go or from having normal formula? I’d be tempted to speak to someone beforehand x
