Advice?

So my baby is 4 weeks, nearly 5, and she would always poo at least once a day, however the past 3 days she's just passed wind but no poos. She looks uncomfortable and cries often with a lot of leg kicking and grunting and is less interested in feeding. Should I be worried?

Following as I'm experiencing the same, baby 5 weeks

We were the same with our 6 week old! This video massively helped us x https://vm.tiktok.com/ZGdAdudnL/

I'm exactly the same at the moment! Baby is 5 weeks! I'm starting to wonder if this is a normal thing that lots of babies experience around this time?

Is she formula fed? If so, we’ve found using the pre-made milk for a day helps, there must be something in it that encourages them to go. I also saw on here yesterday someone had recommended a probiotic they’d started using, which had helped their LO become more regular. Appreciate this might be the first time you’re experiencing a bit of constipation but if it becomes a more regular thing, this might be helpful. We’re going to introduce it for our 7w old xx

She's breastfed exclusively at the moment

@Sophie this happened to my baby as well, she’s exclusively breastfed. The doctor and our midwife said it’s normal for breastfed babies to go up to 10 days without pooing. You can massage them to help them pass gas but it is just uncomfortable for them unfortunately:(. Now my baby goes once every other day but is sometimes still in pain

@Sophie I agree with the video Maisie posted. My baby is 4 weeks going on 5 and doing some very gentle massages helped her. Also seen another video with massage points on the feet that seem to help - sometimes she poos straight away sometimes a few hours after that. From when my daughter was first born she did a poo late evening on the day, then one the next day, then went 5 days without pooing, and then another 5 days again. The midwife and health visitor said it’s quite normal for breastfed babies as they tend to hold the nutrients in the milk a little longer than formula (hence why formula seems to have more frequent poos). For your little one, as long as her belly isn’t hard, and her poos are still soft I wouldn’t worry too much. If you tend to hold her for 90% of the day like I do 😅 try to put her down a little more often and encourage her to just kick and move her legs freely - I’ve found that also helps xxx

@Ellie that's good to know , I'm starting a baby massage class from next week 🤞🏽
