Pram

Hi mamas to be! Any pram recommendations? I want something that is easy to push, fits in the boot, easy to take down / put up, comfortable for baby and good quality. The last pram I brought was over 12 years ago 😭 I have looked at buggaboo Fox, icandy peach 7 or Egg. Also if anyone has found any good deals online! Thanks ☺️

I have got the mamas and papas ocarro. I obviously haven’t used it yet but it came highly recommended and when I bought it the girl in the shop swore by it as she has used it herself x

The Uppababy Vista V3, definitely a lesser known brand in the UK but comes in so high in lots of the reviews and has so many added benefits!

Baby zen yo-yo?

I will be getting the iCandy peach as I loved the look and the quality of it (very easy to fold too). I was also looking at the dragon fly bugaboo as it is very light and folds with one hand but the quality didn’t stick out to me! Also, don’t know if you know this already but the lady in John Lewis said if you book an appointment with them and you buy the pram there you get 15% off just because you booked the appointment ☺️

I got the uppababy cruz v2, doesn't feel bulky and suits what we will be using it for. They might be doing some deals on them now as they've just released the v3 x

Joie versatrax is good for a mid range , versatile pram, fits into boot of small car, lightweight and big basket for shopping 👍

Swear by my egg! Can take wheels off easily if necessary, fits in my boot easy! So nice to push, the qualify and comfort for baby is brill & easy to put up and down! My friends have also had eggs and swear by them too x

Nuna Mixx Next! Or Joie Versatrax! Will be using our Nuna for baby no.2 but I cannot fault it. Had it cleaned and serviced after baby no.1 finished with it and it looks like new!

We have the nuna mixx and love it. It's a little big with the carrycot attachment but the seat is technically suitable from birth as it lies near flat I believe so you don't necessarily need the carrycot. If you're looking for a car seat that comes out the car and clips on then I'd research that first then look at buggies that have adaptors or fit anyway. Nuna infant carrier car seats are apparently known to have awkward head position but we have a seat that stays in the car so we didn't really consider which car seats go on our buggy. Fwiw, we also have an icandy orange which we used on holiday and it was so difficult to maneuver compared to our nuna. The nuna I can spin round with one hand but the icandy practically needed a 5-point turn 😂 If you're near one, I believe the Baby Show usually runs in March. They were brilliant, we ordered a car seat and bouncer from Joie and they delivered to us and a friend ordered a travel system from another brand and had it shipped.

@Deborah I like the look of these, however the women in the shop said they are more travel stroller, so not great for a new born baby. That said, I would love one for travel if money was no object x

I’ve gone for the egg3 travel system!

@Olivia does it fit it your boot? I have a Mercedes A class and was told I would need to take the wheels of to fit in the boot, didn’t fancy doing this each time it’s in the boot. ☺️

@Noemi another Icandy fan! What colour did you go for? In John Lewis she told me it was 10% but I did find a bundle online for £999 including lots of accessories but no car seat for the black, I know some of the other colours can be a little cheaper. Is this 15% a new thing? This was a few weeks ago she told me 10% I still think online maybe be cheaper? X

@Jess thank you, what car do you have? I have a merc a class and was told I would need to take the wheels off to fit in the boot, I didn’t fancy doing this each time 😭

@Gemma we actually have a work van atm 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣 so we’re having to buy a new car! But I did my research on boot size before this and saw loads of videos of tiktoks of them fitting in boots just fine with the wheels! There was also one with a Ford KA which have tiny boots (I used to have KA) and they didn’t need to take the wheels off - https://vm.tiktok.com/ZNeERWmBr/

@Gemma I was going to go for the £999 too!! But when I saw the Pecan colour in the store I couldn’t resist🤣 Hmmm not sure which one of our sales assistant lied🤣but either way I guess it helps regardless!

@Olivia amazing, thank you! 🙏 12 years ago (with my Quinny pram, if anyone remembers them) I had to take the wheels off to fit in my fiesta, it was a nightmare, so ended up getting a small stroller. 😭

We have the Panorama XTI and it was a good deal from Smyths. Quality is also great!

I love my Bugaboo Fox- was the only pram I needed for 4yrs. Easy to fold to me. And fits in my boot fine. SO smooth. My friend pushes it when she’s with me and says it’s smooth

We love our bugaboo dragonfly. It folds smaller than the Fox but is more of a city pram so depends where you will be using it :-)

@Gemma I had a Vauxhall mokka, had to take 1 wheel off in that, which is really easy to do- eggs are one of the smallest frames for prams! It fit in my mums Audi a1 however without needing wheels off!! And when I had a courtesy car which was a new corsa, didn’t need to take wheels off. I now have a Kia Sportage and it takes half the boot, which is handy cause I’m expecting my second now and my first will only be just 2 x

I had an I candy with my daughter and will be using it for my second die in May, great for all terrains I used it on dog walks, good size basket and easy to get the car seat on and the bassinet and seat. It wasn’t my first choice initially but when I went to John Lewis and had my appointment it fitted the criteria of everything I wanted and I am happy I went with it x

I have a bugaboo dragonfly. Super light and easy and will fit our city needs. Bought it during the Black Friday sale The london baby show is in march and usually they have baby show deals

We’ve bought the Egg 3 pram, the quality is lovely!

@Charlotte I am tempted between icandy and egg! I liked the egg has it seemed a little smaller x

@Marilyn I’m due April, but had my first born a month ago early, so not sure I could wait until March 😭

@Gemma Yes the iCandy biscotti is lovely, I was tempted with that one but ended up with the egg. Both are lovely x

@Gemma ahh that’s definitely cutting it close. It’s still a decent price online direct from the website. Depending what parts you need. I got the stroller and the cot attachment. One thing the baby experts sold me on was that fact if something goes wrong with the stroller bugaboo is similar to Dyson, they send you a brand new stroller so you don’t have to wait for parts for it to get fixed. They said car seat bugaboo isn’t best but cybex is a better version and the stroller systems interchange! Hope that helps

Has anyone tried Doona? Easily convertible to a car seat

@Liz I looked at this, but it’s a car seat (and not a very safe one) so you would need a pram too. It would be handy for quick trips out, I was going to get this for holidays, but I was advised it’s really not comfy or safe for baby as a stroller ☺️

@Marilyn thank you, the great after are is a massive benefit, Anyone know if icandy or egg have great aftercare?

@Liz we got one of these from a friend. I don’t particularly like it as a pram as it doesn’t have any storage underneath and our son is quite tal so it’s not very comfy. @Gemma that’s interesting! bought an extended rear facing car seat (Axkid Minikid) from a specialist dealer and they told us that the Doona is actually surprisingly safe as a car seat, compared to some of the rotating ones etc. I can also second the aftercare for Bugaboo is amazing!! The bar on our seat came loose and they sent us a whole new chassis, they also replaced the hood when my sister snapped it bending it the wrong way 🤦‍♀️ 10/10 recommend.

@Rachel interesting, I was about to buy one (as I struggle carrying heavy things) and mentioned this on the car seat safety facebook and felt I was going to be reported to social services for child neglect, they hated them and were so rude about them. The group annoys me, car seat and child safety should be looked at holistically, just because you have the best car seat but drive an old car, badly with a fag in your hand isn’t going to keep you child safe. I really struggle with heavy weights so thought a doona would really help me, but the comments really put me off 😭☺️

@Gemma yikes yeah that group is quite intense. The bugaboo dragonfly is really light, not too sure how it compares weight wise to the Fox but know it is more of a city than all terrain. We live in a first floor flat, I manage to lift it up the stairs while wrangling my 17 month old and being 27 weeks pregnant 😂 and can lift it in/out of the car easily it’d last a lot longer than Doona too? We like our Doona and use it as a car seat in my parents car/have taken it abroad to use as a car seat etc. This is where we bought the Axkid car seat - I found them really really helpful and great aftercare. https://littlepeas.co.uk/product-category/car-seats/swedish-plus-tested?srsltid=AfmBOoqSL7BXywcwRnmqtiR8F8nptHetm-BNIUyTbsQEVq-rKLVK4Xum

@Rachel thank you, did you use the doona on holiday as a stroller? Do you have the I or X? We are going an abroad holiday when baby is 4 months so looking for options for this, I though the doona would be ideal, but was told not 😭

@Gemma We have the I. We actually just left it buckled into the car. We brought our dragonfly pram too cause you can fly with two baby items for free. I wonder if a Babyzen yo-yo might be a good option to look at. I have a lot of friends who use it as their main pram, it’s so so lightweight, folds absolutely tiny and does a newborn version now. I was positive I was going to get it when I was pregnant but was put off as the handle doesn’t go taller and my husband is 6”4 so it looked like he was pushing a dolls pram 🤣 Holiday will be sooo fab!! It’s such a minefield choosing all these things.

@Gemma never had an issue that required me to get in touch with egg. I know people who have had to return their bugaboo though for it not being fit for purpose and unsafe for baby. They then went on and bought an egg 🤣🤣 We bought a second hand pram for £100 that we took abroad when we took our first away at 14 weeks. Didn’t wonna ruin my new cream egg 🤣

@Rachel it really is, I have a 12 year old and took her abroad with no car seat and a Cosatto stroller at 6 weeks old, how times have changed! 😭

@Gemma simpler times 🤣

I brought the tide 2 bundle from silvercross. High end quality and easy to assemble. Bit on the pricey side but worth the monies in my opinion.

I use my baby zen yo-yo most days. I was told it suited my lifestyle of local walks to the shops and in and out of the car to friends.

@Kacey ohh I’ll have a look at this one ☺️
