Blood pressure

My blood pressure has been raised for my past three midwife appointments. Today it was 138/96 and I'm being sent for some further monitoring at the hospital. Just wondering if anyone knows what this actually means? All I understand is that it's higher than it should be, but don't quite understand if it's serious. If it helps, I'm 34 weeks and belly is measuring as 32 weeks (only 1cm growth since last appointment). I'm also being referred for a growth scan.

They may be worried about an onset of preeclampsia, have you got any other symptoms like swelling, headaches, altered vision, pain under ribs? If you’re not already on aspirin they may prescribe it x

I haven't got any other symptoms. I do occasionally see stars but I honestly forgot to mention this so they don't even know yet

They are concerned about gestational hypertension. It can impact growth and therefore needs to be closely monitored

They are worried about pre eclampsia (hypertension (high blood pressure) and protein in the urine). This can sometimes affect the growth of the baby and requires extra monitoring
