@Madelina ♡ yes it’s pronounced as Eli xx
It would take me a minute, especially if the child wasn't in front of me because I know a lot of girls name Eli (as the girl Ellie), either as their name or nick name. After I knew it was a boy I'd understand E-lye as a pronunciation. But you may have to initially tell people sometimes, especially if they are in a hurry with the name.
It looks like a girl name but I can tell it’s Eli
For some reason, I would pronounce it Eel-ee. Not Eli. Why not just spell it, Eli?
@Hannah that's how I would pronounce it too. I wouldn't think Ellie but I would think it's pronounced different than Eli.
@JL, I'd never guess Ellie either.
@Hannah because I wanted his name to be different???
Personally, I'd stick with Eli as there will be minimal pronunciation issues, and he won't have to spell it for everyone either. How about Ely?
Eek. I'd change that one. Why didn't you just go with Eli?
Id think 'yoo-neekly' spelt Eli. Looks more like eel (type of fish) than ellie
I think it's hard when you want a name to be different like that because people don't know if you mean just the spelling or the pronunciation too. You kind of need a full-proof alternative spelling that is impossible to pronounce any other way, and that's hard.
i would assume that Eeli was pronounced the same as Eli - so definitely boy! 💙
