Gestational age

So according to the hospital and midwife I’m exactly 37 weeks today. I’ve just looked through my ultrasound notes and it says gestational age ‘by dates’ is 40w+5d today however the standard gestational age is 37 weeks. This has thrown me right off. Where has this estimate come from? How accurate do they really get these dates and ages?

I think it's an estimate based on the measurements they take at your scans 😊 My boys legs are measuring ahead of my 36+1 but his head/torso is about average. I don't know how accurate they are but it's how they guesstimate the current weight of baby too

The drs always tell me to ignore the estimated scan dates

my last period date would make me 37 weeks, but my dating scan EDD makes me 35 weeks, but his measurements NOW measure at 37 weeks too so also in this position is so frustrating!!! x

@Olivia glad I’m not the only one!! X
