My daughter is going to be 2 in a few months and we still have hers in her room. We’ll probably keep it in there for awhile. Not sure how long yet lol maybe 3/4
Probably 4? When she’s not a huge safety risk to herself anymore 😂
We didn’t have cameras in our home prior to children but have 11 now all over our home in all rooms ( full coverage ) internally / externally with the expectation of bathrooms . Particularly since we work with nannies/ mother helpers regularly. I don’t plan to ever remove all of them from all common areas / outside etc but as far as their rooms are concerned it will likely be whenever they begin to express a need for privacy/ I’m no longer assisting them heavily during bath time which I’m not really sure when that will occur but I’m thinking somewhere between 6-8 or so
I only use the one we have for naps/sleep so probably when he stops napping? But I also plan to use it to monitor quiet time/independent play when he has his own room
It’s convenient to watch them when they’re not with you. We stopped using it when she was 3.
When they ask.
My youngest is 6 and I still keep hers in her room but she has developmental delay and still wakes 1-2 times during the night. She's happy to keep hers in her room as seeing it reassures her that when she wakes up I'll still hear her .
My friend still has the camera monitor in her 8 year olds room and almost 3 years olds room. She uses it more to call them out to the living room or kitchen now since she can talk through it to them or when the younger one is napping
My 3yo has a camera. Like a $30 one just so I can have eyes in there if I hear him. When he starts getting out of bed and coming to get me when he needs something then I won't be bothered with it but for now he just yells so I like to see if he's actually awake or just yelling in his sleep
We aren't planning on moving our kids into their own room until they are 4 (oldest just turned 3 and the other bedroom is on a different floor then mine) so I would probably put a camera in there for the first one or two years. Not to watch him but more so that I will hear him if he calls for me and doesn't think I've abandoned him, or maybe longer because of the baby moving in with him eventually. I recognize that is longer then most people have them but its a safety thing for kids who have never had to be on tgeir own.
Why are children as old as 7 - 8 year olds being spied on by their parents?🤷🏼♀️ Who are these parents?? I stopped using a baby monitor for my eldest when she was around 2 & a half.
@Sarah🦄 lol why do you think it’s spying and not for safety?
How is it spying on your children😂😂
@Monét I just don't think that a 7 - 8 year old needs to have a baby monitor {unless they have certain needs}. I honestly do not believe that parents who are using a baby monitor for their pre-teens, are doing it for 'safety' reasons.

We moved our daughter into her big girl room at 2 because I was pregnant. We left the monitor in the nursery and just leave her door cracked so we can hear her and she has access to us whenever she needs. I finally just got around to getting a new monitor for the nursery so we can put the old one in her big girl room
@Sarah🦄 sure, but a preteen is like 12. I think 7/8 is reasonable. Especially if you live in a large home
@Monét I suppose that its more of the middle of childhood. I'd still choose to not use a baby monitor for my children past toddlerhood.
@Sarah🦄 that’s fair. I won’t either 🤣 when they’re quiet and tucked away, I want to be ignorant as to whatever it is they’re doing as long as there’s no blood lmao
Never had a baby monitor…
Mine is 3 and I don’t see a reason to take it down. I like to check it to see what time he actually fell asleep and what rime he wakes up. Plus he will leave his room sometimes in the middle of the night to come to our room and I like to look to see what time he left his room.
