@Leilani thank you, I’ve been advised to take the aspirin too x
I had early onset severe preeclampsia with my son, ended up having him at 27 weeks. Was labeled high risk with my daughter. Started the low dose aspirin at 12 weeks and was watched closely, including at home blood pressure checks. I ended up getting elevated blood pressures in week 37 but no other preeclampsia symptoms. I got induced at 38 weeks to be safe and had a successful VBAC in hospital. She and I had no lasting side-effects and got to go home pretty fast! She is now a healthy 12 weeks old!
@Michelle if you don’t mind me asking, what were your symptoms the first time round? Did you take any other measures to prevent it besides aspirin? I’ve not spoken to anyone else with early onset pre-eclampsia - I was diagnosed at 24 weeks and my daughter was born at 27+3. I’m planning on getting pregnant again and trying to improve my health and general wellbeing beforehand.
@Kate, not at all! My symptoms were really mild compared to how bad the preeclampsia was scary enough. I had bad swelling, which was rapid water weight gain. Occasional feelings of labored breathing and tingling in my hands and feet. This time around besides the aspirin I definitely ate healthier but otherwise I can't think of anything much different I did. Well I guess more movement since I was running around after my 3 year old!
@Leilani I’m curious to know what you changed your diet to!
I had preeclampsia at 29 weeks with my first, when I got pregnant with my twins i was considered high risk and was told no VBAC due to the cut on my uterus from having her so early. I started baby aspirin at 12 weeks and was watched very closely, I changed my diet on my own so I added no extra stress on myself and I had my twins at 33 weeks with no signs of preeclampsia. I was always told/read that you are higher risk of getting it again after you have had it before.
