Car seats????

Am I going completely crazy or are car seats now not coming with handles??? All the ones I seem to look at don’t have handles and I feel like I’m going mad! How are you meant to carry them to and from the car? It might be because I’m looking at the turn 2 me ones that swivel but I still feel they need a handle

All infant carriers have handles. Next stage seats don’t cause they stay in the car. Do you need an infant carrier or a next stage seat?

A lot of them, even newborn don’t seem to have handles, well the ones I’m looking at on Amazon don’t seem to. It’s so odd!

Most if not all newborn carriers come with a handle. I’d be interested to see one that didn’t.

The swivel ones most likely stay in the car, therefore don’t really need a handle. I think some like the cybex cloud have a handle as well as swivel function but I don’t think many of them do.

@Ayesha this is what I’m thinking but I find it so strange to think it shouldn’t. I find the ones that stay put awkward To pull in and out and would make more sense to have swivel and portable but hey! I’ll just have to get a bog standard one for the handle. ESP for the hospital

@Baled Potato all of the newborn swivel ones don’t for sure! And some stand alone ones too! It’s crazy because it makes sense to provide all with a handle but heyho!

I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a newborn swivel carrier

The Avionaut infant carriers have handles and can be used with a swivel base that stays in the car 😊.

Yeah we have 2 car seats for this reason 😂 we’re still using the newborn one at 10 weeks and will transition into our swivel one in a couple of weeks. So it’s got some good use

I really dislike the carry ones but that might be because I seem to have heavy babies so carrying them in a seat is hard work! Literally took my daughter out twice, until 3 months they cam oy stay on them for 45 mins anyway. Love our 360 though, was do happy to start using that again

All the newborn carriers have handles I’ve never seen them without. The 2nd stage ones don’t. I never really used mine as a carrier my kids heavy 😂

Cybex does

Cybex cloud T is a newborn infant car seat which turns on the isofix base and you can transport it. There are a few more that does as well x

@Elena that’s the weird thing! But the ones I’m looking at change from newborn and adjust for multi ages and these ones don’t seem to have handles and that’s what I find so odd! Where you’re able to utilise one for a longer period without wasting it and yet for the new born part they don’t have handles! It’s so odd !

I've never seen an infant car seat without a handle. Some infant carriers can be used on a swivel base. Any that last longer (e.g. ones that say 0-4yrs) are designed to stay in the car so wouldn't have a handle. These are generally not suitable from birth though (despite what the manufacturers say). I'd also avoid looking for seats on Amazon. They often have inaccurate information and some aren't even legal (e.g. Chinese or American seats which aren't EU certified, being sold through Amazon UK). You're much better off looking for a local independent specialist.

@Ellie thank you and Elena too I’ll have a look now!

As your looking for the multi age ones, this is why they don’t have handles as they are designed to stay in the car xx

I’d avoid multi stage seats for newborns as they generally are way to small for them till about 6 months, I believe one of the only true multi stage from birth that offers a safe fit is the besafe one. But infant carrier is best from birth then but next stage seat nearer the time

this is what I’ve noticed so I’m just looking at new born only now to get what I want out of it!

What country are you in?

@Charley UK

So car seats in the UK are "grouped", A 0 or 0+ car seat is for newborns up to 13kg and these are the ones with handles. Car seats out of this group won't have handles as they're not designed to come out of the car at all. Avionaut Cosmo/pixel, britax babysafe core and maxo Cosi cabriofox are ones I recommend. Cybex cloud is also good but heavy!

My rotating infant car seat has a handle - is that the same as a swivel? First time mom in US here so I’m guessing it’s just vernacular? When I tried out travel systems it seemed like all the infant car seats had handles but not many rotate but there are a few great ones that do! If you google best rotating car seats for infants there are a bunch of top 10 lists!

@Charley ahhh this makes sense Charlie!
