Baby sling carriers

Does anyone have one? I'm not sure if the complete wrap ones or the ones where you can pull on like a t shirt are better. Thinking of koala on amazon as it says its certified safe for their hips but unsure. Any Recs or advice?

Tbh it’s not something I’m well versed in but if you’re on Instagram follow letstalkbabywearing she has so much good info

I wouldn't use a t shirt style one as they are often unsafe. You need to be able to have baby up high on your chest and be able to tighten the material to give them a custom fit. Close caboo is a good one for newborns as it is soft stretchy material and is pre/tied so you put it on over you head. Then just pull the two tails to get a snug fit and knot them under the baby's bum. Then tie the last piece around you both. Really quick and easy

@Charley oh that's what I meant by tshirt sorry like the ones thatre pretied at the back and you just tighten. Thank you

Personally I find the wrap ones a real faff, so I prefer soft structured carriers. Dracomom Hatchling is perfect for newborn up to I think about 1yo, and it's lovely and soft and stretchy similar to a stretchy wrap. I also really like the Lenny Lamb Upgrade which is woven (so not stretchy) but still nice and soft, and I find it really comfy. The best bet is to visit a local sling library though as what suits one person won't necessarily suit another. You can also hire online to try before buying

@Katie thanks. Yeah I've been meaning to go to the sling library but just haven't had the chance yet. I want a structured carrier for outside but more desperately need something for indoors right now that I can easily wash

The shirt ones can stretch and not last very well. I know probably a bit too much about babywearing sometimes. lol. The stretchy wraps are really nice and pretty well liked, though they tend to only be comfortable till around 15 lbs. but they tend to be fairly cheap especially if you get them secondhand. You could also get a structured carrier, but a sling library is the best idea of all.

@Z you don't need a different one for indoors and outdoors, just something over the top to keep LO warm outside. I used baby wearing coats over a Lenny Lamb carrier, but you can also get a zip in panel for your normal coat or a specific carrier cover. My carrier has been washed lots of times, and you can get covers for the shoulder straps (normally called suck pads I think) that you can take off and wash if you don't want to wash the whole thing all the time

@Katie I have indoor and outdoor carriers, and carriers that live in the bottom of the changing bag for days I take the pram as a backup. I like certain aspects for different reasons so they suit different situations

@Charley yeah, I have one that lives in the car and various spares too, but my point was that you don't need different ones, if you have one carrier that is comfortable then you can use it anywhere, indoors or outdoors. If that's what you prefer then that's fine, but it's not a necessity
