Daycare cameras

My daycare doesn’t have a camera but really wished it did so I can watch my kid on it. Does yours? Do you feel the same ? Why isn’t this standard ?

I would like to have cameras when I do one. But not for parents to watch. I want it for anything that may happen like a child hurting him or herself and I didn’t see due to being with another child or doing another activity. I would like to be able to state exactly what happened when I have children in my care. I feel like if parents were able to watch. Not everyone would be open to having other parents in watching their child throughout the day. Or if something is screenshot now it’s a breach of privacy.

My daycare doesn’t. And I just pulled my twins. I found out, through their own admission they were physically restraining my special needs son. I wish all daycares had them.

It's illegal to record without permission. Not everyone will agree or sign a waiver stating that its OK.

nope i hate cameras in daycares. the worst daycare my son went to had cameras

My daycare has camera 24/7 live access. When choosing daycare we made sure that it's one of the features they are offering as he will be there full-time. Ofc, they are a bit pricer than others. It just makes you feel at ease when you can see what he's doing live. I can see how he interacts with kids and teacher, reaching milestones etc. It also help solves issues when they arise (ei.fall) as they can go back and review the video with you. You can only watch but not allowed to record. Even if you try it won't allow you to screenshot or record any videos.

@Lauren this happened to my son too. The person now has a record. CAS, the ministry, the police and the college of ECE was contacted.

@Shannon I just pulled them. I haven’t signed the withdrawal forms yet. I am a daycare teacher so I will be reporting them to everyone. They openly admitted it in a seesaw message to me along with asking me to ask his doctor to give him a sleep aid for sleep….hes 3 🙃

@Julie if you have an iPhone you can record what you are seeing on your iPhone screen before entering the app.

Personally I hate the idea of cameras in daycare. Either you trust your daycare or you have red flags and don’t. We get photos of our son throughout the day but the other kids faces are blurred out. Granted I also don’t post pictures of my son online either- I guess to each their own. Too many safety concerns for me. Can you imagine if that camera feed was hacked and accessed by the wrong person? As I mentioned if you have an iPhone you can record what you see on your phone screen and then take stills from the video it creates.

I agree with Shannon, you either trust them or don't. My son's daycare doesn't have cameras and I'm totally fine with it. I get pictures here and there of activities, and that's enough for me. My son is excited to walk into daycare, I hear how they treat the kids, and he seems happy. Those are lots of good green flags for me, so I don't need cameras to watch

@Lauren damn. I’m a Child and Youth Worker but work as an Educational Assistant. I now have baby 2 which is 4 months and I’ll have to make a daycare for myself or something. I can’t trust anyone anymore. 1st they left my fresh 2 year old. Wasn’t even 2 for a month outside and kids found him and brought him inside then them being tied to a chair along with another little boy. It was my last straw. Doing therapy and all bc I can’t trust anyone. Handy worked in almost 2 years now. Sigh.
