Cloth diapers anyone?

Considering switching to cloth diapers. I didn’t realize but it takes like 400 years for a diaper to decompose in a landfill 🤯

Before my baby was born I decided I wanted to at least half of the time use cloth diapers. I bought them and have had them sitting around for months. Tonight I finally got them out and am giving them a try. I think I like them so far.

I loved cloth diapering Mostly I loved never running out of diapers and never having to ration out a monthly diaper budget

i’ve always done a mix. i just get lazy with the washing which makes me do it less. and tbh poopy diapers are so much worse in cloth lol. but the benefits are great, less waste, less money, reusable for multiple babies. one thing i’ve never figured out is doing cloth overnight. even with doubling up on liners my daughter would always leak

For me they were fantastic until baby started eating full meals of solids. I would love to use them again I just don’t have the stomach for the real food poos.

Perfecto unil baby turned 6 months and eat solid. Poo change and it gets harder to clean up,... Well I did save diapers for 6 months and I plan to do the same for next baby

Honestly cloth diapering was one of our favorite parenting choices. We only do it part time but we essentially save five dollars a load. I love always having diapers and not going out to the store all the time. Kinder cloth has some really adorable prints too. Plus you can use them for multiple kids, so if this is your first you might get more use. Lots of brands sell a small set for someone who just wants to try it out. my kid was a pretty regular pooper so I’d just put him in a disposable same time most days. We also got a spray bidet that was 20 bucks that works like a breeze.

We've been cloth diapering since they were an infant and they're 2 next month. We love it.

They're amazing and more people should try it. Takes a few weeks to get used to your flow with cloth diapers but it's so cute, effective and more comfortable for the babies. Definitely a money saver. I have used cloth, DYPER (let's them feel wet) and undies once EC needed to be wrapped up and it was time to potty train(15mo)

I did it for 2 years with my son, loved it! I tried to think of it that every time I used one it was just be less going into landfill. I still used disposable overnight as well. I’d just get a few to start with to try it out and then go from there. Clean cloth nappies on Facebook is a great resource as well.

We have used cloth almost exclusively since my oldest was born. Very few leaks at all. We went on holiday when my youngest was 6mo and used disposables. She got poo all up her back within half an hour of leaving the house, and we had at least one outfit covered in poo every single day, even with folding the top over and putting a too-big pull up over the top. I do think disposables have their place but I do a lot less scrubbing with reusables so that's a big win in my book!!

I considered it and want to try but is it hygienic ? Wouldn’t it still have residue even after washing or is there a special way to do it ?

@Symone they get two washes. A quick wash to get rid of most of the pee/poo, then a long hot wash to make sure they're completely clean and hygienic. We do a 45min warm wash (40°C) with a ⅓ dose of detergent every day, then when there's enough to fill the machine (every 4-5 days for us) we do a long hot (60°) wash with a full dose of detergent. Our current machine it's 3hrs 45 min, but last one was about 2½ hrs. They always come out lovely and clean, no stains at all, smell lovely and fresh, and even if I forget to take them out of the washing machine for a while, or put them in the tumble dryer and forget to switch it on (yes, that's happened multiple times 🙈) they still smell just as fresh so definitely clean and hygienic. There's not much in the way of germs or anything that can survive a 60° wash

@Katie that makes sense !! Thanks for explaining xxxx

I did cloth nappies with my first. It's cool, you save good money and much more environmentally friendly. However I will not be doing it for my second, because my sanity is more important. I can barely keep on top of the laundry as it is, without adding baby clothes and nappies in too. I still have them and I may well end up giving it a go but right now I have no plans to do it

We used them with my first, though part time as i really struggled to use them at night with my son. And I'm due in a few weeks and will use them with my second. I use disposables for the first few weeks as the newborn stage is challenging as it is. I can't say I love them but I definitely hate using disposables more. Other than the environmental benefits I will say I've never had a poo explosion in cloth once and also I find they smell a lot less, surprisingly. I will say I do love using reusable wipes and I think this alone saves so much waste from disposable wipes.

saved me and my husband soooo much money. we use disposable for overnight and car rides but absolutely love the reusables. we use Nora’s Nursery

We exclusively used cloth with our daughter from 5 weeks and now using them again on our twins since a day old and I am so glad we do! There’s less nappy rash, less poo explosions and I find disposables STINK! We used disposables the other weekend while we were away and went through around 50 nappies in 3 days which to think of having to buy that amount of nappies weekly horrifies me! @Symone as long as you have a good wash routine it’s very hygienic. My nappies are probably cleaner than the other washing in the house because they have a much deeper cleaning routine!

I have and use them I use cloth wipes as well . They’re a lot more work but I like them

I have them from my son and planned to be using them by now but I already feel like I can't catch up around here with my toddler and baby both being in a huge mommy only phase. Once I am more able we will be doing part time and will enjoy the savings. Less garbage is a bonus.

I've been cloth diapering my 8 month old since he was 2 months hold and I love them, he never has diaper rashes, we don't run out of diapers, and we don't have to keep buying diapers would definitely recommend

They’re literally so easy and save a lot of money, it makes me so mad that I didn’t do it for my first child. I’ve heard some ppl say it costs a lot of money in water but it def only does if you’re doing it wrong and using too much water to spray the diapers down. Cloth diapers for the win 💯💯💯

We used them for a little while but the amount of water involved for the constant washing feels like it offsets a lot of the environmental conservation. We went to a compostable diaper service and couldn't be happier

I’m trying it out but I have the disposable inserts that you attach to it just because I got gifted a fuck load but so far I like it I haven’t dived head first into JUST cloth yet it’s definitely worth a try if you don’t mind sinking about 150$ into it that’s how much it cost just for a trial set of a handful

You can get some for pretty cheap on amazon
